What a day! As I said when I first entered the church this morning, “Wow!” The community certainly turned out for the Bishop as he confirmed 15 new members into our parish. These young people, from age 9 to 43 made a public commitment to turn to Jesus and follow his Way of Love. And St David’s was packed to the rafters in support! Here are just a few of the many, many photos that were taken. If you have more, please add to the comments.
Daniel, Sophie, Chelsea, Ella, Grayson, Metice, Orry, Sam, Alex, Ben, James, Ellie, Harry, Dimity, and Breeze - remember God is always with you and always loving you, to the end of time. God bless you all. 🙏🕊️

Join us as we pray for Christian unity tonight at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Allora from 6:30pm. There’s a shared supper following the service, so bring a plate if you’re able! All are welcome! 🙏 🕊️

QCT is pleased to mark Day 1 of the Week Of Prayer For Christian Unity (noting that northern hemisphere churches joined in these prayers back in January).

Ascension

He ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
~ The Apostle’s Creed

“For although He ascended alone, we also ascend, because we are in Him by grace.”
~ Augustine of Hippo

“The Ascension completes our faith in Him, who was God as well as man.”
~ Leo the Great

“Nevertheless, we who proved ourselves unworthy of the earth have today been raised up to heaven; we who were not even worthy of authority below have ascended to the kingdom on high.”
~ John Chrysostom

Ascension Day, a poem by Malcolm Guite:

We saw his light break through the cloud of glory
Whilst we were rooted still in time and place
As earth became a part of Heaven’s story
And heaven opened to his human face.
We saw him go and yet we were not parted
He took us with him to the heart of things
The heart that broke for all the broken-hearted
Is whole and Heaven-centred now, and sings,
Sings in the strength that rises out of weakness,
Sings through the clouds that veil him from our sight,
Whilst we our selves become his clouds of witness
And sing the waning darkness into light,
His light in us, and ours in him concealed,
Which all creation waits to see revealed .

Allora Churches Together is holding a special ecumenical service on Saturday 9th May to pray for world peace. We acknowledge that the past weeks and months have been characterised by unprecedented violence globally and many in the community are anxious and uncertain about the future. Allora Churches Together would like to offer the community an intentional and peaceful time to come together and pray for the many people and places experiencing violence, oppression, and war. Christian hope in times of conflict rest on the belief that God is a ‘refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’. (Psalm 46:1)

The service will be held at St David’s Anglican Church commencing at 6PM with a shared supper following.

For you, beloveds, for the fifth Sunday in this season of resurrection: a blessing that has plenty of space in it, and room enough to welcome us all.

BLESSING WITH MANY ROOMS

As you step inside
this blessing,
we wish to tell you
it is large enough
for you to lie down in.

Or (though it may not look it,
small as it is upon this page)
you can curl up
in this blessing
with a cup of tea
and a good book
beside the window—
here, just behind you—
that faces east.

Likewise it is true,
though you might not have
paused long enough
to notice,
that this blessing
is big enough
for a table—
quite a sizeable one
can be accommodated—
where your guests
will want to linger
far into the night.

And if they desire to stay,
you will find that
through this door—
you did not see it before?—
there are rooms in plenty
where they can
lay their heads
and stretch out with abandon
in their dreaming sleep.

One room,
many rooms—
in this blessing
it is all the same.

The point is that
there is space
enough:

enough to make
a life, a home;
enough to make
a world;

enough to make
your way toward
the One who has made
this way for you.
