We are drawing closer to the days at the heart and centre of the church's year. Why not come and share with us this journey: from darkness to light, desolation to hope, death to life...
Everyone is welcome.

✨ Today we join with Iranian Christians across Australia in prayer.

We pray for those who mourn.
For those detained or injured.
For families living with fear and uncertainty.

We ask for God’s peace, God’s justice,
and God’s sustaining grace in Iran.

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.

On St Valentine's Day, a prayer for everyone who loves.

We thank you, God, for the love you give to us,
so that we can give it to one another.
We pray for love to grow and flourish
in our community and in our homes.

Bless the romantic lovers with stars in their eyes
and sweet nothings on their lips,
delighting in each other with body and soul.

Bless the long-time partners with solid loyalty
and faithful life together through struggle and joy,
caring for each other across the years.

Bless the neighbours with time to give
and practical help to offer,
growing community and lifting our spirits.

Bless the friends, sharing interests and stories,
stepping up in a crisis, sharing celebrations,
generous and loving through thick and thin.

Bless the unconventional couples: cross-cultural, interfaith,
multi-racial, rainbow, intergenerational households,
building bridges and breaking new ground.

Bless the lovers of justice, truth and peace,
the passionate workers and creative colleagues,
the innovators, advocating for positive change.

May all the love in our homes,
all the love in our neighbourhoods and workplaces,
all the love in our cities,
be gentle and wise, strong and steady, faithful and kind,
until everyone knows that they are treasured and cherished,
and precious to others and to you.

We make this prayer through the one who loved his friends so much
that he was willing to die for them,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Two important things to know for tomorrow:
(1) The forecast maximum is in the mid 20s - much more comfortable than today!
(2) All are welcome to our 9:30am service, especially those about to start a new school year. Bring along a school bag (or some other symbol of school) so we can bless them and pray for the year ahead. After the service, we'll share a sausage sizzle lunch on the lawn (in the shade).

Join us on Thursday 22 January at 11.15am as we mark the National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Bondi terror attack. Christian, Jewish, and Islamic faith leaders will gather at the Cathedral to mourn the loss of life, light candles, and pray for peace and an end to hatred.

The vigil will conclude at 12pm.

All are welcome. For the comfort of those gathered, we ask that attendees refrain from displaying national flags or political symbols of any kind.

Looking forward to gathering together this morning - all welcome to our 9.30am service.
