As Lent begins so does a new series on the Apostles Creed: 'I Believe' ✝️

We'd love you to join us - all are welcome 🤗

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, Gods only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
from there he will come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Today is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the season known as Lent. Lent historically is a season of soul searching, reflection and preparation for Easter. Living Water will be having two services today for Ash Wednesday:

✝️ 10.30am Ash Wednesday Communion Service

✝️ 7pm Repentance & Rededication Service

Why the ashes?
Christians have long realised that life-transforming discipleship does not happen merely through knowledge: discipleship also involves experience, community, actions and memory. As a result traditions and ceremonies have been developed by the church to aid in the discipleship process. One such ceremony is the Ash Wednesday service. Of course there has always been the danger that the ceremonies can become meaningless religiosity and the same could be said about attending church on Sundays. But it doesn't have to be this way. Participating in ceremonies thoughtfully and with meaning can be very good and helpful to strengthen faith.
