Before you post that photo... 📸
The eSafety Commissioner just issued a warning: AI tools have made it easier than ever for photos — especially of kids and staff — to be misused, manipulated, or turned into deepfakes. Between January and March this year alone, over 100 cases were reported of church, school and community photos being harvested and misused.
This isn't about fear. It's about care.
Before sharing a photo of your church family online, ask yourself:
✅ Who can see this?
✅ What does this photo actually add?
✅ Would this person (or their parent) be comfortable with it being public?
A few simple habits go a long way — favour group shots over close-ups, avoid tagging exact locations, skip full names next to photos of kids, and always get consent first (and remember, it can be withdrawn anytime).
We love celebrating our church family — camps, baptisms, Sabbaths, milestones. Let's just keep doing it with the same care we'd want for our own kids. 🤍
