Effective Living Centre

Effective Living Centre The ELC empowers people to engage with and contribute to life more effectively. It is available to people of any social, political and religious stance.

The Effective Living Centre is a not for profit organisation run primarily by an Office Coordinator and volunteers. It provides facilities and programs for people who want to share, broaden and develop their own vision and passion for life. Programs evolve and change according to community needs or demand but can be grouped under the following headings

-social issues (which holds events to discus

s current and topical issues concerning equity and justice)

-sacred & creative (provides opportunities to discover and express the sacred aspects of life in a variety of ways)

-Progressive Christianity Network- PCNet (which holds events to explore and nurture Christian faith and spirituality in modern times.) All our programs and events are offered in a conscious spirit of hospitality, inclusion and respect. The Effective Living Centre is a community engagement and development project of Christ Church Uniting, Wayville, and is a progressive and evolutionary resource centre. Since its beginning in 1998, the Centre has built up a reliable and admired infrastructure. We are able to host courses and seminars – small or large – and to provide excellent facilities and administration services for other community organisations. Cooperative initiatives are seen by the ELC as a way of participating in personal and community development with others. Our primary vision is to contribute positively to the whole community. It is open and available to people of any social, political or religious belief who share our values of :

Respect
Compassion
Inclusion
Fairness
Integrity
Community

Unley Allies with First Nations People invite you to join them for the
Unley 2026 National Reconciliation Breakfast.

When: Wednesday 27 May, 6:30am for 7:00am start
Where: Living Choice, 123 Fisher Street, Highgate

We will be livestreaming the highly popular Reconciliation SA National Reconciliation Week Breakfast in a more intimate setting (ten tables of eight guests each) and at a more readily accessible venue.

Purchase a ticket and pre-order your light breakfast at:
https://actionnetwork.org/ticketed_events/unley-national-reconciliation-week-breakfast?source=direct_link&&link_id=0&can_id=072d73d896d93c120483cea595f87235&email_referrer=email_3222336&email_subject=your-special-invitation-unley-allies-breakfast&

Your purchase of a ticket for $50 covers the cost of the venue and breakfast. We are not undertaking this as a fundraiser. Our interest is in extending participation as broadly as possible.

Please only buy one ticket with each booking as we need each breakfast order as part of purchasing your individual ticket. 50 tickets have been released and 18 have been purchased already. Our maximum capacity is 80 people.

If you would like to sit at the same table with family, friends or colleagues, just nominate a table name in your booking and ask others to nominate the same table name. We will make sure you get to sit together. This is an opportunity to invite others to take a first or further step in walking with First Nations Peoples.

Next week 16-22 March is Harmony Week, incorporating the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March. Congregations across our Synod are invited to pray, reflect and take action for racial justice.

Mission Resourcing has compiled a comprehensive list of anti-racism resources for further reflection and study, which can be found here: https://unitingchurchsa-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/cconway_sa_uca_org_au/IQBnXWLOF2ykTqa3bxiSSkBiAUxV4TqStqTIKBaw16h20Q8?rtime=fxdrU8d_3kg

This year's theme is Give to Gain, enabling us to focus on generosity, collaboration and shared progress. "Giving is not a loss – it is intentional multiplication. When women have access to health and rights, the benefits extend far beyond individuals, families are healthier, health systems are stronger, economies grow and societies become more just and sustainable." - International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
