General Secretary Rev Philip Gardner described the coloured fans used for voting as โ€œlike consensus cards but brighter and better for fanning oneselfโ€.

They also enjoyed meeting with UCCP leaders over dinner, visiting a communal farm, and touring the city of Tacloban.

During Synod 2026, you are invited to attend a public event featuring ๐—ฆ๐˜๐˜‚ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ป, CEO of Sydneyโ€™s Wesley Mission (and former SA Synod General Secretary), who will be speaking on the topic โ€˜The Whole Gospel: Evangelism, Justice and the Mission of God: Good News and Gambling Reformโ€™.

Stu is an entertaining and gifted speaker who brings a unique perspective to tackling some of the most significant challenges facing Australian society.

You do not need to be a Synod member to attend.

It's been a whirlwind of a trip for our group visiting ๐—œ๐—ธ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฏ๐˜†๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ!

The past few days have included time spent with host families, trips to the Independence Hall and to Jeonju Hanok Village, and visits to Geumsan Church, Sinpyeong Presbyterian Church and Madong Church.

At the SA Synod meeting in July 2022, members decided that, as a Church, we would aim to achieve net zero emissions from our activities by 2040.

The UCAโ€™s commitment to the environment arises out of the Christian belief that God calls us into a special relationship with creation โ€“ a relationship of mutuality and interdependence which seeks the reconciliation of all creation with God.

In a recent speech, Pope Leo XIV challenged all people of faith: โ€œPeople of faith cannot love God while despising his creatures, and people cannot call themselves Christians without caring for everything fragile and wounded, including the earthโ€.

General Secretary Rev Philip Gardner travelled to Tacloban City for the ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—–๐—ต๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€ (UCCP). He is joined by Sureka Gorringe (Director of Uniting World) and Rev Cyrus Kung (who works with Uniting World and Mission Resourcing in SA).

The conference gathers together 600 delegates from across the Philippines. Its focus this year is โ€˜Walking with Jesus: Journeying with the Anawimโ€™ (a Hebrew word referring to the poor and marginalised).

Our UCA representatives enjoyed a powerful opening worship service which featured music, dancing, and storytelling from the history of the UCCP.

A special service at ๐—˜๐—น๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ต ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—–๐—ต๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต yesterday celebrated the joining of Elizabeth Grove with the International Pentecostal Prophetical Church (IPPC). Wimala Presbytery Chairperson Rev Dianne Holden preached at the service.
