This is a short word on a book that I read many years ago called :
Natural church development by
Christian A Schwarz.
As I was prayed and studied I came across some of my earlier notes that might be helpfull at this time

Christian did some extensive study around the world on 1000 churches, and there were some key things that he saw that were helpfull to healthy growth of a fellowship.
Math 6: 28. Observe how the lilies of the field grow. The Greek word is
Katamathete that is an intensive form
Of the word Manthono meaning to
Learn, observe, study and diligently research.
Kata in Greek intensifies the word
Thus to study, meditate, examine and take direction from them
Thus understanding the principle of the kingdom of God.

The lessons learned were as follows

1. To encourage growth, we have to keep environmental resistance to a minimum to create the best possible conditions thereby releasing biotic potential, God has already put their

2. He found that healthy church growth Involved leaders, concentrating, and empowering other Christians in the church for ministry.
These pastors did not use lay workers as helpers but instead, they equipped supported Motivated and mentored individuals. In one word, personally discipled.

3. He also found that pastors as a theologian had a negative results compared with those who had outside had better results, investing in discipleship, delegation and multiplication.

Question.
Does ministry involvement match gifts?
He also found that in churches where being a Christian means, having the right doctrine and moral code membership and spiritual passion was below average.
What was also noted was that inspiring worship did not just help the quality, but also the quantity.

In my own church in the UK that I was brought up in people were encouraged to move in words of knowledge, Interpretation of tongues the prophetic, healing etc and it was often in this environment when outsiders it came in to see what was happening that many got saved.
There was room in the meeting to move in gifting.
However, there has to be mature leadership to allow this to happen, and if some people move in a particular gifting there would be outside help to refine that gift.
We were encouraged to move in gifting in every day life wether it be work or play as a lifestyle.
There were small groups within
the church where that was practised and Critiqued, not their gifting but their character this was not so much for work within the Church community, but for the life in general.
It is important to be able to connect with everyday people and share our life and faith where opportunity arose.

This is a short teaching on
Management and leadership and their differences and qualities.
Most of this from memory came from a book by Pat Mensies I read in 1998

Leadership is a quality
Management is an art

Leadership provide vision
Management realistic principles

Leadership deals with concepts
Management relates to function
Leadership exercises faith
Management has to do with facts
Leadership seeks effectiveness
Management strives for efficiency
Leadership provides direction
Management is concerned about control
Leadership thrives on finding opportunity
Management succeeds on accomplishment
Leaders inspire
Managers don’t
Leadership is an influence for good among potential resources
Management is the co-ordination of available resources organised for maximum accomplishment
Leadership catches concepts, visions and overall direction once established management sees that it is done
Leadership decides where we are going and why
Management figures out how to get there
The manager administers, the leader innovates, the manager focuses on systems and structure, the leader focuses on people.
The manager relies on control,
The leader inspires trust.
The manager often have a short range view, leaders have long range perspective.
The manager asks how and when, a leader asks what and why.
Managers have their eyes on the bottom line, leaders on the horizon.
Managers initiate, Leaders originate
Managers accept the status quo,
the leader challenges it.
The manager is a classic gold soldier
The leader is his own person.
The manager does things right
The leader does the right thing
Ingredients paramount in great leadership
A guiding vision
Passion
Integrity
Trust
Curiosity
Daring
Pioneering

This is Short Teaching on Vision.
Prov. 29: 18.
Without Vision the people perish.
Another version is:
Where there is no revelation the people cast off restraint or without
Prophetic revelation the people cast off restraint.

Statistically most visions last about 7 years.
The important thing about vision is it must flow out of relationship.
Vision set in concrete can break people’s hearts due to it inflexible unworkable nature.
I have seen in my years as a christian
Churches fold due to inflexible vision your either on board on your not by definition you become a rebel
People must never be forced to Choose between corporate vision and personal destiny.
When a church is run on one man’s vision there is going to be divisiveness.
As vision develops there has to be a turning over from ownership to stewardship.
Failing to do this we can insist that people serve our vision.
The fact is it is Gods Vision He owns it let the Lord include others in the same arrangement this is where vision changes as it grows, God adds people as it develops and begins to take shape.
When the Lord gives vision he very often doesn’t give the complete blueprint of how that is going to be carried out.
What we initiate we have to carry and it can burn us out and we can become frustrated that it is not going as we like or planned.
What God initiates he Carry’s we have to be good listeners and allow ourselves to be led as God instructs its his responsibility to see thing to completion.
Jesus himself said in
Mathew 11: 30. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.
The important thing that I have found in my walk is to really enjoy God.
It is not about efficiency and performance the christian life above all else is a love affair of the heart.
Do not allow activity for God to replace communion with God.
Activity comes out of communion.
In my early walk I saw him as a manager and I was always waiting to see what he wanted me to do next however the Lord updated me and i saw he is a father who wants to spend time with me and enjoy my company
Intimacy is everything in our walk with the Lord

Getting with the program:

In this teaching, I’m going to concentrate on Peter. To start with I’d like to look at what Jesus said to Peter.
Math 16: 13-19.
Jesus said ‘who do people say that I am’? and he disciples said some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets, then Jesus said ‘But who do you say that I am and Peter answered ‘you are the Christ the son of the living God’. Then Jesus replied to him and said to him.’ blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my father who is in heaven.
And I also say to you you are Peter and on this rock I would build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom, and whetever you bind on Earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
The Rock that Jesus was speaking about was not literally Peter, but it was the rock of revelation that Peter had received and what was needed to build the Church.
Paul had great revelation we read in
Eph 3: 10. That a goal of the Church is ‘ that the manifold wisdom of God might be made known through the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places’ this was some of the revelation that Paul had,
In order for this to happen, there has to be people who know their standing in God and get personal revelation.

Acts 8: Peter and John having been sent by the Jerusalem Church went to Samaria to check out the new converts that Phillip had brought to the Lord, Samaria was not a popular place due to their mixed race from the past however the Lord was preparing Peter for the future.
Peter and John laid hands on the new converts and they were filled with a spirit. It was a sign of their apostolic authority.
I’ve no doubt the Jerusalem Church would have sent more people to disciple and tutor the new disciples in the ways of the Lord.
Acts 10: a couple of chapters later we hear that Peter was staying with Simon the Tanner and that was forbidden by Jewish law because that means Peter would have to handle dead bodies, that was forbidden by the law but God reassured him by giving him a vision of all kinds of four footed animals and creeping things and birds of the air and God said to him ‘Peter kill and eat’ and Peter said no I cannot eat anything that is unclean and God spoke to him again what God has cleansed you must not call common. This was done three times and the object was taken up into heaven. Peter‘s prejudices had to be dealt with and the Lord had a very unique way of doing that by giving him a vision.
I personally have a saying that when you clearly hear from God instantly obey, because if you question it and analyse it and check it out with others, you can lose the faith that you had at first when you heard the word.
It is really interesting that previously Acts 9: 40 Peter preached to the Samaritans, he’d raised the dead, but his heart and his mind had to be updated and changed in order for him to go further with the kingdom of God and be effective.
Once Peter had been updated, he then updated the Jerusalem Church and told them about the vision he had while staying with Simon the Tanner and in preaching to the Gentiles Cornelius the Centurion and the people under him being an example.
of the grace of God and the fact that as Peter was giving his testimony the Holy Spirit was poured upon them and they spoke in tongues and then Peter and those with him immediately baptised the new Converts.
When God is on the move, we have to be in a place where we are really responsive and give the Holy Spirit free reign.
I’ve personally seen many times that the Holy Spirit is desperate to move, but the structure created has not allowed that to happen, structure and order is a good but it has to be flexible allowing God free reign.
The other side of the coin so to speak is that when God acts the enemy often reacts an example of this is
Acts 12: where we read that Herod had killed James the brother of John because he saw it pleased the Jews
And furthermore, he had Peter arrested no doubt planning to kill him, but Peter was so secure in his God and knowing that James had been killed by Herod and knew he could be awaiting the same fate was able to sleep and it said a angel rescued him that was the second time that this happened to Peter see Acts 5: 19.
Peter knew from experience that in times of great revival there is also great prosecution and also great deliverance and was able to encourage people that was going through similar trials read one and two Peter.
Peter as a man didn’t really learn apart from Jesus too many things from other people. He was the kind of man that was impetuous and as a person he had to go through trial and error. He learned by experience that can be a painful way to learn, but when you do you never forget it.
The Lord personally dealt with Herod, who was a persecutor of the Church at that time and he died a painfull death.
Peter was later matyred by Nero
In AD 67 by being crucified upside down. Peter didn’t believe he was worthy enough to be crucified the right way up if there is a right way like Jesus so was crucified upside by choice.
For those reading this particularly in Africa and parts of India at this time that are going through incredible trials and tribulations. I pray that the Lord will give you strength and the ability to stand firm in your belief and that there will be mighty deliverances on your journey and that you will be strengthened in your inner man in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

This is a story and some insight into the early life of Jonah the Prophet.
I would like to start and look at what tribe Jonah came from. This is very important in Jewish history knowing where you came from can give you a sense of belonging, and belonging gives you an insight into to who you are and this can give you a sense of destiny and purpose.
Gen 30: 20-21.
Jonah came from the tribe of Zebulun who was the 6th son of Leah and 10th son of Jacob.
He’s was a younger brother Issachar the 5th son of Leah of whom according to Jewish was very close to Zebulun.
In Jewish tradition Zebulun was an entrepreneur and supported his brothers Issachars studies from which Zebulun also profited They had a mutual beneficial relationship.
Issachar studied the Torah and is accredited with creating the Israelite calendar.
Deut 33: 18-19.
Moses prophesied concerning Zebulun and Issachar it says:
They will feast on the abundance of the seas and on the treasures hidden in the sand.
The sand of this particular coast was especially valuable due to it being used in the manufacture of glass.
Josh 5: 18.
Zebulun was war like and sacrificial
1 Chron 12: 32-33
Issachar had an understanding of the times while Zebulun were experts in war and who kept rank.
They were disciplined.
Out of all this history, Jonah was birthed
Jonahs early life.
2 Kings 9. 2 Kings 19: 25
Jonah was a disciple of Elisha the prophet he was summoned to go to
Jehu with a flask of oil and annoint him King with the task of carrying out Gods judgement on the house of Ahab.
It is interest to note that Elijah only told him a couple of things to say, but when Jonah was prophesied to Jehu it was a lot more detailed at the time that Jonah did this, he was obviously anointed and prophesied in the spirit
The fact that Elisha sent him was because Elisha saw gifting upon him and knew he could be trusted to deliver the message.
So Jonah’s gifting was secure. The thing that needed to be worked on now was his character that happened at a later date when he had to go to the Nineveh.
The Lord was not concerned with Jonah’s gifting he was more concerned with Jonah’s character
He had the word of the Lord, but he needed to develope the heart of the Lord and for Jonah that meant prophesying to a people that he really disliked.
In order for the Lord to develope him further in the kingdom and in the process deal with his prejudices.
The Lord desires a people with the depth of character that’s able to carry the anointing he wants to bestow on us and for many that can mean trial and error Rom 5.
People can help us to move in gifting, but it’s God who shapes our character
I often used to say to people I have no problem in moving in annointing but I did have more difficulty in having my life shaped and changed according to to Lords devine plans.

Note. (a flask of oil was representative of blessing however a horn of oil was representative of strength) Saul in the old Testament was anointed with a flask of oil however David was anointed with a horn of oil.

This is a word that I’ve been pondering over probably for the last two or three days and I believe it’s a Rhema word for some of you
I’m going to title it:
The Journey.
This is about Paul’s journey or voyage to Rome it starts in Acts 27.
Acts 19: 21 Paul had accomplished much in Ephesus having planted a church that had amazing impact in all of Asia at the time and moving in extraordinary miracles, he felt impeled in his spirit. It says to go to Jerusalem and then onto Rome.
And that compulsion that he had was confirmed in:
Acts 23: 11 Paul who in chapter 21 was arrested in the temple for supposedly defilling it by bringing Greeks into the temple they dragged him out and was actually going to stone him but was saved by a Roman commander who gave Paul permission to speak to the crowd
This is in Acts 22 and having spoke to the crowd and telling them that the Jews of whom he is one would not receive his message told them that the Lord told him to preach to the Gentiles v22 at this point the Jews wanted to kill him and the commander saying what was happening rescued him again.
so here is Paul doing all the right things and receiving absolutely no thanks from the majority of the population but the interesting thing is this: Acts 23 v11 while Paul was under the protection of the Roman officials the Lord stood by his side and said be of good chear Paul for you have testified for me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness of me in Rome
The thing is, there is really no security in what God is doing there is only security in who God is.
We might be doing and saying all the right things that the Lord wants us to say and any reassurance that we need comes only from the Lord
Acts 27: Having boarded a ship Paul was on his way to Rome having visited Jerusalem and in verse 10 Paul warned them that the voyage will end in disaster but the centurion and the Helmsman and the owner of the ship was far more persuaded by the weather so they set sail and within a very short time there was a face wind and they were literally carried along for two weeks they had to throw the tackle overboard and all manner things that carried weight and they had not eaten for days. They had to come to the end of themselves before they would listen to reason and in the midst of that Paul spoke to them and encouraged them to eat telling them that nobody is going to lose their lives telling and that an angel of God whom Paul serves has granted all those who sail with him
Therefore, take heart men, for I believe God that it would be just as it was told me however the ship must run aground on a certain land (Malta)
in some ways the ship is a little bit like a picture of the world. It’s heading for disaster and we in the midst of it when we spend time with the Lord and we understand what’s happening and what is going to happen we can be the vehicle that God uses to bring salvation to people that are clearly on the way to destruction.
It took a long and arduous journey for those people on the ship to listen to Paul. They were in fear for their lives but Paul who clearly spent time with the Lord and became a beacon of light bringing Hope in the midst of a Very dangerous situation and they eventually listenend to what he had to say.
It was Paul who actually wrestled with God in his prayer life and got answers and was able to bring those people through to safety.
The thing that really spoke to me is that all Paul was really doing was consistently speaking truth and his reward was seeing the impact that it had on people but the authorities did not like it. They did not want to hear truth and it is very much like the times we are in today. Many people have bought the delusion it speaks about in Thessalonians.
The real battle is in the spirit where we pull rank over the forces of evil and take down strongholds.
A short testimony:
Many years ago I was leading worship and my theory was if I was leading worship to spend time in the spirit worshipping and if I was preaching to spend time in the word this time I was going to lead worship at this particular church where I was
It was about a 40 minute walk and on the way to church I was singing in the spirit to see what the Lord wanted to do that day and I’ve got a picture of what was going to happen in the meeting who was going to bring a word what the response would be to that word . The whole package.
And it happened, just as the Lord showed me on the way to the meeting
All battles are first won in the Spirit.
So what I would say is do not lose heart, faith that endures delay is always rewarded in the long run so stand firm in your belief always as they say in the UK stick to your guns not allowing yourself to be persuaded by others who may not have the depth of understanding or revelation.
People live according to the understanding and revelation that they have had up-to-date.
Paul in Eph 1: 17-18 prayed that the eyes of their heart may be enlightened so that they might know the hope to which they are called.
he wanted his readers to have an insight of what he had grasped and taken hold of in spirit. This was going to enable them to function from their Standing and not their state

Leviticus 25, Isaiah 61, Luke 4.
Jubilee.
In the old Testament Jubilee started with a blast from a Ramshorn at the end of the 49th year this was also called the year of liberty.
A Ramshorn in the Bible signifies strength, David was anointed with a Ramshorn of oil by Samuel,
Saul was anointed by Samuel in
1 Sam 10: 1 by a flask or phial of oil that signifies blessing.
There were several things that happened on the year of Jubilee

1. Rest for the soil no sewing and reaping and hard labour in Rest we are to enjoy the the bounty provided by the Lord

2. Reversion of the land that the Lord originally gave to the tribes of Israel.
All land that was sold due to hardship was to go back to the original people accepting world cities that must be redeemed within one year.

3. Release from slavery. Every Jew who had sold himself into slavery that brought bo***ge due to poverty was to be released him and his children.

God’s heart was concerned for human liberty and wanted people to be free calling into question any social practice that leads to bo***ge or loss of property as well as economic opportunity.
God desire is for justice on earth and Jubilee was to prevent greed, cheating and oppression of one another.
The law prevented a permanent system of classes from developing and gave everyone a fresh start economically, socially, and spiritually.
Note.
The exception with Walled cities that was built by man, however the open fields belong to the Lord and with the year of Jubilee it prevented man from owning too much land not allowing greed. It is God’s land to give away not man’s to sell manipulate and make a huge amount of profit at peoples expense.
In Isaiah 61 and Luke 4 it is steeped in Jubilee physiology.
The interesting thing in Luke 4 is that Jesus went into the wilderness filled with the Holy Spirit and came out of the wilderness in the power of the Holy Spirit and in order for the Jubilee to really take affect it needed a person that had overcome all the powers of darkness that would holt the blessing that God has prepared
For those who love him.
In Luke 4: 18/19 Jesus at the beginning of his ministry said
‘ the spirit of the Lord is upon me
Because he had anointed me
To preach the good news to the poor
To heal the brokenhearted
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight for the blind
To proclaim the favourable year of the Lord,
The interesting thing is that “that quote is from Isaiah: 61: where Jesus’s words stopped right there at blessing and favour because the next line is
‘ and the day of judgement’ that is to come but we are now living in a time of Grace and favour.
As a personal note particularly here in the west there seems to be a concerted effort for people to loan and be in dept of some sort and a lot of people are only one week from bankruptcy and now struggling due to the cost of things and have to loan in order to get things they need and want. I’m not talking about houses that can be an investment for a lot of people, but lifestyle.
The spirit of the Lord enables us to live with anointing and liberty the outcome of which is that we will be called oaks (Tree’s)of righteousness a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour Isaiah 61: 3.
So I would encourage everyone as much as able to be free from debt allowing room to do the things that the Lord has called you to do

This is an introduction from a book called The Sacred Romance it was written by Brent Curtis and John Eldridge Thomas Nelson Publishes USA it’s certainly spoke to me and I hope it will speak to you.

‘ Life for the most part teachers us to suppress our inner longings and live life in the external world where efficiency and performance are everything.
The identity we have carved the others know is out.
Here busyness substitutes for meaning, efficiency substitutes for creativity, and functional relationships substitutes for love.
Living from the law ( I ought to do this) rather than our desire to do this.
Often communion with God is replaced by activity for God.
The true inner life cannot be managed like a corporation it desires fellowship, it does not respond to principles and programs, does not seek efficiency but passion.
If people live their life only on the outer they will eventually lose track of the inner.
The Christian, above all else is a love affair of the heart.
Love God, with heart soul and strength and love your neighbour as yourself.
If we ignore the heart aspect of faith we live our life solely on correct doctrine or others expectations and our passion is crippled or perverted and we become split in ourselves which leads to inner confusion and turmoil.

Two things that spoke to me from
this particular quote were

1/ loving your neighbour as yourself I’ve never really known a church that spoke about how to correctly love ourselves it’s often about denial and giving up our lives but the scripture is very strong on being able to love others as you love yourself.

I Cor 13: v 4
Love is patient, love is kind.
It is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs.
My question to anybody reading this is are you kind to yourself are you patient with yourself if we practice these things on ourselves we will be like that with others.
Many of us beat ourselves up that is a very opposite of what the Lord would do. The scripture goes on to say in v 7 Love always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres and in v 8 Love never fails. Be kind and patient with yourself please.

2/ Communion with God is replaced by activity for God.
Sometimes I think it’s like we’re like a waiter in a restaurant waiting for The next order from the Lord.
God is our father and he wants to spend time with his children he wants to impart who he is not just what he does.
We need to really get a handle on who God is, the heart aspect and from that allow our activity to flow from there.
There was a saying many years ago that people used to say
‘what would Jesus do’ and my question was that’s all very well but why would he do it.
My reasoning was to get the Lords heart on the situation. I used to constantly interrogate the Lord and still do and the Lord always came to the party.
