Forever is beyond. Life is fleeting. But Life eternal is here and now in Jesus, "the living bread" who "came down from heaven" to give himself "for the life of the world." We who eat his flesh and drink his blood have eternal Life now. Forever is not beyond. Life is not fleeting. Because Jesus is the living bread.

This gospel posits three possible life-outcomes: might not perish, might have eternal Life, might be saved. These outcomes are why the Father sent the Son. The Spirit empowers us to receive God's love, to believe in the Son, and to yearn for divine Life. But we must choose to believe. Do we? How?

In John's gospel Pentecost takes place on Easter evening, The giving of new Life on Easter and the giving of the Spirit on Pentecost coalesce in the one Body of Christ, the Church. This Body is filled with the joy of divine Presence, the grace of risen peace, the eagerness of being sent forth, the breath of new creation, the power of forgiveness. Each day when we- Christ's Body, the church- allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through us, Easter-Pentecost happens anew.

KNIT AND (K)NATTER
Anyone interested in knitting some beanies, handwarmers or scarves for the homeless as we head towards winter is invited to come to our first Knit and Natter session in the Sebastian Centre on Monday the 25th of May at 10am.
I have quite a large supply of wool so bring your own needles, and we can get clacking on some warm, useful items for those who need them. If you have a pattern you would like to bring and share, I can arrange photocopying.
At our first gathering we can decide how often to meet, weekly, fortnightly, monthly?? And if you can’t make it to the session but would like to be involved, contact Sue in the office and I can arrange some wool and a pattern if needed.
