The Ups and Downs of a Great Vertical Migration
The deep ocean is widely considered the ‘final frontier’ for human exploration on earth. Despite covering over 70% of the planet’s surface, more than 80% of the ocean remains entirely unmapped and unseen by humans. The deep sea, in particular, is a vast, largely unknown expanse, potentially home to millions of undiscovered species, unique ecosystems and exceptional geological formations like hydrothermal vents.
