By any measure, king Asa was one of the loveliest men to grace the pages of Holy Writ; a lover of righteousness and stability, for which God gave him peace. He came on the scene to a nation in poor spiritual health with the onerous task of being Judah’s first reformer, having to effect change without precedent. He inherited a kingdom gripped by idolatry.
