Our hearts ache for those grieving loved ones and for people who have lost their homes.

In Bidur, where around 1,500 people are staying in temporary shelters, AOA’s partner the International Nepal Fellowship (INF), has delivered relief supplies and is running a health camp.

Its teams are also assessing needs for longer-term recovery.

The devastation in Nepal is still unfolding after an enormous flash flood swept through towns and remote mountain communities.

Families are searching for loved ones. Local teams are delivering food, water and shelter, while assessing what people need to begin rebuilding their lives.

In this video, Tim Hartley, AOA’s Disaster Response and Resilience Coordinator, shares an update on the relief effort.

We know that more than 1,000 people have died, nearly 4,000 remain missing, and at least 1,473 are injured. Thousands have lost homes and livelihoods.

Every year, Christians around the world come together during the Season of Creation to pray and care for our common home.

This year’s theme, Living Water, draws from Ezekiel’s vision of water flowing into barren places and bringing life and renewal.

For AOA, caring for creation is closely connected to caring for our global neighbours. When a changing climate affects water, land and food security, it also affects people’s health and livelihoods.

Across Africa and the Asia-Pacific, our Anglican partners are leading responses grounded in local knowledge and faith.

Over the coming weeks, we will share some of their stories and consider how Ezekiel’s words speak into the realities of our world today.

We are pleased to share that a new operating theatre at Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza is now open.

The need for surgical care remains immense. In June alone, 624 urgent and elective surgeries were performed.

While AOA did not fund the new theatre, our generous supporters funded salaries for doctors, nurses and other hospital staff through our Christmas Appeal.

This support has made it possible for Al-Ahli’s medical teams to continue providing essential care.
