Getting a flawless silver ingot doesn’t have to be a guessing game. 🌪️🔥

Here is my quick 4-step routine for a perfect, pit-free pour every single time using the KC Ingot Mold:

1️⃣ Prep the mold: A quick coat of Boron Nitride spray is the absolute game changer here. (Don’t forget to wipe the flat surfaces afterwards!)
2️⃣ Angle it: Tilting the mold lets trapped air escape easily—say goodbye to annoying pits and porosity.
3️⃣ Melt it clean: Add a pinch of borax! This flux acts like a protective liquid glass shield over your melt. It binds existing oxides and prevents new ones from forming. Keep heating your silver until it reflects like a mirror with zero crust.
4️⃣ Temp check: Slightly pre-heat the mold to get rid of any trapped humidity and to avoid thermal shock. (Pro tip: If your metal ever spills or splashes out during the pour, your mold was likely still too cold. No stress—just remelt and try again!)
The result? A perfectly clean, solid ingot that is instantly ready for the rolling mill!

🔍 Quick Pour Troubleshooting:

❌ Mold not completely filled or not a perfect cylinder? \rightarrow Your melt was a bit too cold.
❌ Large, rough crystals visible on the surface? \rightarrow Your melt was too hot. Try to dial back the heat a bit next time!

From casting a fresh round wire in the KC Ingot Mold to shaping a tiny bail, fully set with these micro diamonds.
Working on this scale is always super delicate, but honestly... the conical mandrel surprisingly did an amazing job here, haha.

Sometimes it’s the tools you least expect that make life at the bench a whole lot easier when working on tiny pieces.

Pavé layout on a twisted ring? Exactly the kind of challenge that keeps things exciting at the bench. 🌪️💎

With zero flat surfaces to rely on, every single line and stone has to perfectly follow the twist. If you rush this foundation, you’re going to hate your life later. The best tool right now isn’t your sharpest graver—it’s just patience. 🧘‍♂️

My go-to trick: I always keep the ball moving continuously during the cut. It’s the best way to perfectly follow that nice, sweeping curve without any choppy stops.

Take your time and trust the process.
