Quellentage, June 12-14. Long before Bad Gastein became a destination for travellers, writers, emperors and kings, artists, athletes and visionaries (the list could go on and on :-), there was the water — the eternal essence of Bad Gastein.
Emerging from deep within the Hohe Tauern and reaching temperatures of up to 47°C, Bad Gastein’s thermal water has shaped the town and its healing tradition for centuries. Countless stories, legends and beliefs have grown around these springs. Yet beyond the myths lies something equally remarkable: a natural phenomenon whose effects have been studied, documented and appreciated for generations.
Rich in minerals and naturally occurring radon, the thermal water remains at the very heart of Bad Gastein’s identity. To this day, it continues to attract visitors from around the world and forms the foundation of a unique health and wellness tradition that has shaped the town’s economy and culture alike.
The Quellentage (Thermal Spring Days) offer a fascinating introduction to this extraordinary heritage. Through lectures, guided walks, discussions and special experiences, the programme illuminates the history, science and enduring significance of one of the Alps’ most remarkable natural resources.

Berge in Flammen (Mountains in Flames)
Once a year, as the longest day of the year slowly gives way to shorter days, the mountains surrounding Bad Gastein catch fire.
An ancient tradition dating back to pre-Christian times.
For centuries, the people of the Gastein Valley have spent months gathering and carrying wood into the mountains in preparation for the summer solstice. Then, on this special evening, fires are lit high on the peaks and mountain ridgelines. What begins as a few flickering lights soon resembles a chain of miniature volcanic eruptions stretching across the landscape, and as darkness falls, hundreds of flames appear across the horizon.
Part celebration, part ritual, part spectacle, the Sonnwendfeuer remain one of the valley’s most extraordinary traditions. A deeply moving experience for all generations and one of the most magical evenings of the year in the Gastein Valley.
Don’t miss it this year ;-)

Not far from Bad Gastein, the modern world has receded into the distance and another world begins to unfold.
Scattered across the mountainsides of the Gastein Valley, the Almen (Alpine Huts) of the Hohe Tauern National Park remain among the most beautiful in the Alps. No roads lead here. Only footpaths, winding steadily upwards through forests and mountain landscapes. A small adventure in itself. Some are easier to reach, while others must be earned.
Along the way, flowering meadows sway in the summer breeze, mountain streams cut through the landscape, and marmots occasionally appear among the rocks. Cows and goats graze on pastures that have changed little for generations.
Farmers and local producers transform the rich alpine meadows into butter, cheese and other homemade specialities. Everything feels a little slower here. A little simpler. A little more real.
Perhaps that is why an Alm awakens a sense of nostalgia. Not necessarily for a particular memory, but for a time when the world seemed less hurried. When days felt longer and summers endless.
Some places seem to exist beyond time. Thankfully, the Almen are among them.
Here’s to exploring them this summer.

Published in one of Germany’s most respected newspapers, Bad Gastein is now featured in the latest special edition of DIE ZEIT@zeit , Europa, wie schön bist du! (Europe, How Beautiful You Are!) — a celebration of the continent’s remarkable diversity.
At the sea, in the countryside, in the city, and of course in the mountains.
Writer Alard von Kittlitz turns his attention to Bad Gastein, placing our beloved town alongside destinations as varied as the Caucasus, the Pyrenees and Iceland’s volcanic landscapes.
Among Europe’s many celebrated places, Bad Gastein continues to attract attention not only for its dramatic setting, but for its unique atmosphere. A place where nature, culture and history converge in a way that feels entirely its own.
Thank you, Die Zeit, for this wonderful feature.

This, too, is Bad Gastein.
Not only the imposing architecture of the Belle Époque. Not only the remarkable Brutalist structures that cling to the cliffs as though they had arrived from another world.
Away from the lively centre, where the valley becomes quieter and the pace slows, a different side of Bad Gastein reveals itself.
We often write about water. About waterfalls, thermal springs and rivers that have shaped this landscape for thousands of years. Today, however, attention turns to something else entirely — to the smallest wonders of the natural world.
To moss covering ancient stones. To wild herbs, berries and grasses finding their place between rock and root. To prehistoric ferns slowly unfurling each spring, as though stretching themselves towards the summer light. To flowers so delicate and fragile that they appear almost unreal, prompting a sense of wonder at nature’s extraordinary intricacy.
And how fortunate we are to have all of this at our doorstep.
A landscape of extraordinary richness, much of it still untouched.
This is your invitation to look closer, to sharpen the gaze, and to enter a microcosm of astonishing complexity and beauty — small, quiet, fragile and undiscovered by most.

Yogafrühling | June 4–14, 2026
During the Yoga Days in Spring, the Gastein Valley becomes a place of movement, stillness, serenity, strength and connection.
Surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and forests, yoga unfolds far beyond the studio. The power of the rocks, the energy of the water and the rhythm of nature create a setting unlike any other.
From sunrise sessions in extraordinary locations to workshops with internationally renowned teachers, ceremonies, sound journeys and mindful movement practices, the programme offers more than 30 classes a day across the valley.
Diverse, inspiring and thoughtfully curated, there is something for every level, every interest and every approach to yoga.
Bad Gastein and the Gastein Valley everything is in constant flow and renewal: water carving its way through the landscape since the Ice Age, mountains shaped by the passing seasons, and crystal-clear alpine air. Together, they inspire presence, balance, gratitude, humility and a deeper connection to what truly matters.

The programme is far too extensive to list in full here. Discover the complete schedule, highlights and booking information via the link in bio.

About last night in Milan at CHIOSCO AMICI!

We came together at Salone del Mobile for our first official appearance, bringing Bad Gastein to one of the world’s most important design and furniture fair. In collaboration with the iconic Acapulco Chair and , we created a space to meet, mingle, and share our story beyond the Alps.

It was a joy to see so many familiar faces, Bad Gastein regulars and locals — and just as exciting to meet new ones. With sunshine, apéro drinks, and relaxed moments in the Acapulco Chair (on quite the journey from Mexico to Bad Gastein to Milan), the evening captured exactly what we stand for: hospitality, internationality, innovation, creativity, and above all, the spirit of simply having a good time.

Thank you everyone for coming and being part of Bad Gastein’s journey.
