From Persecutor to Preacher: The Powerful Story of Paul ✝️
He was on his way to arrest Christians, but before he reached his destination, one encounter with Jesus changed the direction of his entire life.
Paul, originally known as Saul, was a fierce opponent of the early followers of Jesus Christ. He approved of the killing of Stephen and went from house to house, dragging believers away and putting them in prison. (Acts 7:58–8:3)
Then came the journey that changed everything.
Saul was traveling to Damascus with authority to arrest followers of Jesus. Suddenly, a brilliant light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice:
“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
Saul asked, “Who are you, Lord?”
The answer changed his life:
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” (Acts 9:3–5)
Saul rose from the ground, but he could not see. For three days he was blind, and he neither ate nor drank. Then God sent a disciple named Ananias to him. Ananias laid his hands on Saul, his sight was restored, and Saul was baptized. (Acts 9:9–18)
The man who had once tried to silence the name of Jesus began proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God. (Acts 9:20)
Paul’s journey was not easy. He faced imprisonment, beatings, rejection, danger, and suffering for the Gospel. Yet he continued preaching Christ and became one of the most influential apostles of the early Church. His missionary journeys carried the Gospel to many places, and his letters became an important part of the New Testament.
Years later, Paul could look back on his life and say:
📖 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
❤️ Paul’s story reminds us:
Your past does not have to determine your future. A person who once fought against the Gospel became a powerful servant of Christ. When Jesus transforms a life, He can completely change its direction.
