What a powerful and spirit-filled Sunday it was!

Our young people took the stage and led the main service with passion, excellence, and bold faith, showcasing their incredible talents and God-given gifts. The energy, creativity, and depth they brought reminded us that the future of the Church is bright and in good hands.

We also joyfully celebrated 32 years of marriage for Mr and Mrs Gumbu, devout and faithful members of our society. What a beautiful testimony of love, commitment, and God’s sustaining grace. The fundraiser held in their honour was a true reflection of unity and generosity within the body of Christ.

Indeed, the Church is alive, growing, and thriving! πŸ™Œβœ¨

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Schools Post Outstanding 2025 ZIMSEC Exam Results

Online Reporter - Sunday Mail - March 1, 2026

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe-run schools have once again produced outstanding grade Seven, O- and A-Level results.

This was evidenced by the recently released ZIMSEC examination results. The schools have maintained their dominance within their respective provinces.

In Mashonaland West province, Moleli High School and Sandringham High School have produced the best O- and A-Level results for over a decade.

Chegutu Primary School is also churning outstanding results every year. The same applies to the scenario in Mashonaland East province where Waddilove High School, Chemhanza High School, Kwenda High School, Waddilove Primary School and Chemhanza Primary School have also remained top performers in ZIMSEC examinations.

Pakame High and Pakame Primary Schools in the Midlands province are also notable performers.

Not to be outdone is Thekwane High in Matebeleland South province. In the heart of Bulawayo, in Makokoba also lies Bulawayo Methodist High School. This upcoming high school has been improving in leaps and bounds at both the Ordinary and Advanced levels.

In the 2025 ZIMSEC results, the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe-run primary schools realised an upsurge in pass rates. The uality also improved drastically as shown on the tables below.

The primary schools managed to produce a total of 92 candidates attaining between six and 10 units.

Major highlights include the quality results produced by Waddilove Primary School, Chemhanza Primary School and Chegutu Primary School. Thekwane Primary, Sandringham Primary and Marshal Hartley (with recently established boarding facilities) also showed massive improvements in their percentage pass rates.

Not to be outdone were the high schools which produced a staggering 258 candidates achieving 15 points or better.

Notable improvements in candidates achieving 15 points or better were realised at Waddilove with 61, Sandringham with 60, Moleli with 57 and Kwenda with 31.

A quick glance at these results reveals that for Advanced Level the percentage of candidates who attained 15 points or better in the individual schools is as follows: at Moleli High 68 percent, Sandringham High 86 percent, at Waddilove High 42 percent of the candidates attained 15 points or better, at Kwenda High 35 percent of the candidates attained 15 points or better, at Pakame High 23 percent of the candidates attained 15 points or better and at Thekwane High 26 percent of the candidates attained 15 points or better.

Such statistics are indicative of high levels of quality that are very difficult to match. Even upcoming schools such as Tinde High, Bulawayo Methodist High and Matthew Rusike College did manage to come up with learners who secured 15 points and above.

At ordinary Level, the Methodist schools posted outstanding performances with remarkable improvements in quality. All the seven established high schools (Moleli, Sandringham, Waddilove, Chemhanza, Kwenda, Pakame and Thekwane), managed to record pass rates ranging between 90 percent and 100 percent.

A total of 411 candidates from all the high schools managed to attain 5As and above as presented in the table below. The quality produced in the individual schools is remarkable.

The tabulated results reveal that at Moleli High 73 percent of the candidates attained 5As or better, at Sandringham High 48 percent of the candidates attained 5As or better, at Waddilove High 51 percent of the candidates attained 5As or better, and at Kwenda High 45 percent of the candidates attained 5As or better.

Such quality results produced by the individual schools clearly show that the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe-run schools are indeed outstanding.

The success realised in the recent ZIMSEC examinations can be attributed to a number of factors. The schools are manned by dedicated principals and school heads who work round the clock to ensure that quality is achieved.

The qualified and dedicated teachers within these schools have also ensured that learners are ably guided. The schools have fully embraced the Heritage-Based Education model.

To this effect all Methodist Church in Zimbabwe schools-run a number of vibrant projects that include piggeries, poultry, fisheries, dairy, beef, horticulture and apiaries. These give learners the much-needed practical experience and this also contributes to the outstanding ZIMSEC results.

The parents , through the School, Development Committee also play an active part by mobilising resources. The other factor worth mentioning is the emphasis on discipline.

In this regard, Methodist schools have managed to address major vices bedevilling youths in most contemporary schools.

The schools have explicit policies that address vices such as bullying, drug abuse, theft and other forms of immoral
behaviour.

The Christian values and ethics under which the learners in Methodist Schools are groomed ensure high moral standards in them.

This is aided by the Responsible Authority’s stance of deploying full-time chaplains in all schools and these are ably supported by vibrant guidance and counselling departments.

This, coupled with an emphasis on unhu/vumunhu/ubuntu, has contributed so much in carving a niche of academic excellence in the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe-run schools.
