🔥 PENTECOST: THE PROMISE, THE POSTURE, AND THE POWER 🔥
Last Sunday at Green Pastures Assembly, we celebrated Pentecost and were blessed by a powerful message from Dr Thomas on the 3 Ps of Pentecost.

📖 “And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people...” (Joel 2:28)
It marks the birth of the Church and reminds us that the Christian life was never meant to be lived in our own strength. We need the power of the Holy Spirit.

1️⃣ The Promise of Pentecost
God promised to pour out His Spirit on all people. The gift of the Holy Spirit is not reserved for a select few—it is available to every believer who seeks Him (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:39).

2️⃣ The Posture of Pentecost
The disciples waited in prayer, unity, and expectation. Today, we too must seek God through prayer and fasting if we desire a deeper work of His Spirit in our lives.

3️⃣ The Purpose of Pentecost
The Holy Spirit empowers us to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ—not only through our words but through transformed lives that reflect His love and grace (Acts 1:8).

We thank God for His sovereign visitation among us. Believers were refreshed and refilled with the Holy Spirit, people set free, lives were touched, and hearts were strengthened for prayer. To God alone be all the glory!

Shalom, Harare! 👋

We have just kicked off a new teaching series: "Knowing Jesus: A Deep Dive into the Gospel of John."

As the General Council of the Assemblies of God, we stand firmly on our 16 Fundamental Truths—the first being that the Holy Bible is the inerrant, complete, and final word of God for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We trust the Bible above all else.

📖 Why is the Gospel of John Unique?
While Matthew, Mark, and Luke (the Synoptic Gospels) show us Jesus as the King, the Servant, and the Son of Man, John reveals Jesus as GOD.
John wasn't just a writer; he was an eyewitness. He didn't focus on Jesus' genealogy as a man, but on His divinity as the Word who was with God from the beginning (John 1:1-2).

🔥 Who Wrote the Gospel of John?
It was written by the Apostle John who was a disciple of Jesus. His brother was James. In his books, including 1, 2, 3 John and revelation, he appears a gentle and loving man. Did you know Apostle John wasn't always the gentle man we read about?

• He was fiery: He once wanted to call down fire on people! (Luke 9:54).
• He was ambitious: He scrambled for the "best seat" in the house (Mark 10:37).
• He was exclusive: He tried to stop others from doing ministry (Mark 9:38).

But walking with Jesus changed everything. The man who wanted to burn Samaritans later travelled to pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17). 🕊️

He who wanted the highest position was content in calling other church leaders, probably your than him, his partners and companions (Rev. 1 v 9).

If Jesus could transform John, He can genuinely change you in ways you never imagined!

🛡️ When was this Gospel written?
Although we do not have an exact date, it was probably written around AD 80-85, John’s Gospel is a direct eyewitness record. Unlike texts written hundreds or even 1,700 years later (like the Koran, the Book of Mormon, or fabricated "lost gospels"), John was there. He saw, he touched, and he believed. His account can be trusted.

🎯 What is the purpose of the Gospel of John?
Why was this book written? "That you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31).

The Jewish temple had been destroyed and they could not continue with the festivals such as Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. The Jewish life had been overturned and they were hopeless.

John shows them that Jesus is the real temple of God that cannot be destroyed. He is the fulfilment of all the festivals.
Even to us in a world that it volatile where things we trust can be taken away, Jesus is the only firm foundation. He is the true Temple. He is God who became man so that you could have Eternal Life.

You are invited! Join us as we encounter the Word of Life together.

He is Risen!

Jesus Christ is Alive Today!

What a powerful Resurrection Sunday at Green Pastures Assembly! It was a milestone for us as we celebrated our very first Easter service as a church family.

Our sermon, "Jesus Christ is Alive Today," focused on the truth found in Luke 24:1-8, reminding us that the foundation of our faith is a living Savior.
________________________________________
Why the Resurrection Changes Everything:

1. It is a Historical Fact: Christianity is not make-believe; it is the truth. The resurrection is a datable event supported by eyewitnesses (1 Cor 15:3-4). Jesus rose bodily and even ate fish to show He was not a ghost (John 19:30-34, 1 Cor 15:1-4).

2. Power to Transform Lives: Before the Resurrection, the disciples were hiding in fear. After meeting the risen Christ, they preached with boldness within only 50 days (Mark 14:50, Acts 4:13). He still has the power to transform your life today.

3. The Miraculous is for Now: The same Jesus who performed miracles in Galilee is alive and doing miracles in Harare in 2026! He is with us and confirms His word with signs and wonders (Mark 16:20, Matthew 18:20). Just as He healed Aeneas after ascending to heaven, faith in His name still heals today (Acts 9:32).

4. Our Eternal Hope: Because Jesus rose as the "first fruits," we have the assurance that we will also be raised on the last day (1 Cor 15:20-23). We will receive new, imperishable bodies free from sin, weakness, and deformity (Romans 6:9, Philippians 3:21, 1 Cor 15:42-44).

🔥 GREEN PASTURES ASSEMBLY🔥

One of the core foundations of our faith at Green Pastures Assembly is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. As part of the General Council of the Assemblies of God, we stand firmly in the Pentecostal truth that every believer needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit to receive power to serve the Lord.

Jesus promised it. Before He ascended, He declared in Acts of the Apostles 1:8:
“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”

Last Sunday, Dr Thomas ministered powerfully from Acts of the Apostles chapters 1–2, reminding us that the Holy Spirit came to change and empower us.

Jesus said in Gospel of John 14:16 that He would send us another Comforter. The Holy Spirit now walks with us, strengthens us, guides us, and equips us to stand firm in these times.

And last Sunday, heaven touched earth. God, in His sovereign grace, poured out His Spirit upon us. We give Him all the glory!

If you are hungry for more of God…
If you desire power to live boldly for Christ…
If you want your faith to move from routine to revival…

We invite you.

Prayer is the lifeblood of every believer! 🔥 Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 — and last Sunday, we unpacked powerful truths:

1. We boldly call God “Our Father” — He loves you personally and directly! No need for anyone else to mediate. Jesus said: “I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you” (John 16:26-27). Come straight to your loving Father in heaven!

2. Our Father is in heaven — unlimited, unstoppable, enthroned above the earth! “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers” (Isaiah 40:22). Nothing is too hard for Him! Pray big, like Jabez: “Oh, that You would bless me... and enlarge my territory!” (1 Chronicles 4:10) — and God granted his request.

In a world where helpers are either willing but unable, or able but unwilling — our Father is both willing and able! 🙌

Join us for our Midweek Prayer Service every Wednesday, 5:30–6:30 PM at Avonlea Primary School.

We invite you to our Sunday Worship Service starting at 9:00 AM at Avonlea Primary School.

At Green Pastures Assembly, we truly believe the church is the beautiful Body of Christ—and that makes every one of us brothers and sisters in the best sense of the word! 💚

We love finding ways to show that love by caring deeply for one another and celebrating each other’s special moments.

On 01 February, we had the joy of gathering to celebrate our January birthdays! 🎂✨

We celebrated with our brother, Wayne, and enjoyed a delicious cake together.

These sweet moments are like a little preview of the incredible celebration that awaits us in heaven when we’re all together with Jesus in the New Jerusalem! 🥳🙌

So once again—
Happy Birthday, Wayne!
We’re so thankful for you and the blessing you are to our family here at Green Pastures Assembly. 🎈❤️

Our First Baptism Ceremony

To the glory of God, we held our our first baptism ceremony yesterday.

We are overjoyed that our brothers, Wayne, Wardly, and Tinotenda, have been baptised as commanded by the Lord. (Matthew 28 v 19).

Baptism means that;
1. Their sins have been washed away and they are forgiven.

(Acts 2 v 38: And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit).

2. They died together with Christ and rose together with Him. Therefore, they are no longer saves to sin.

(Romans 6 v 3-4: Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life).

3. They are now part of the family of God.

(Galatians 3 v 27 - 28: For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We pray that they may grow in their relationship with God.

We pray for many more conversions and baptisms in the coming year.

To God alone be the glory!
Amen!
