The Holy Spirit

THE HOLY SPIRIT

He testifies that we are God’s children
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again, rather the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry “Abba Father”. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” Romans 8:15-16

It is not by default that we call on to God “Father” but it is the action of the Spirit in our hearts. The testimony of the Spirit gives assurance that indeed we are children of God. It takes way the fear to be punished because of sin.

He is deposit guaranteeing our inheritance
“When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession” Ephesians 1:13
A deposit is a pledge to purchase something e. g car. Likewise the Holy Spirit is a deposit guaranteeing eternal life for the believer. He gives us foretaste of the eternal presence of God. The Holy Spirit gives us hope that although we are still in the world there is a better life ahead

He searches and reveals the mind of God
These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Corinthians 2:10-11
In order to walk with God through all seasons of life we need revelation about who He is. Sometimes we go through life circumstances that may cause confusion and doubt. It is in those times that the Spirit will reveal God so that we continue to trust Him.
It is not enough to just read the bible therefore we need the Holy Spirit to reveal scripture so that we may gain understanding and be transformed by the Word.
We need the Holy Spirit to reveal the thoughts of God concerning the purpose our existence. I believe there is a hidden greatness that lies within the believer that can only be revealed by the Spirit

He is a helper
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you .John 14:26
The disciples continued with the ministry of Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit they preached, brought deliverance and healed the sick. He taught them all the things they needed to know and reminded them the teachings of Jesus Christ.
We are not in the same context as the first disciples but we have the same Holy Spirit. He is available to help and teach us everything that will help us to live a life that brings glory to God. The Holy Spirit will teach us through the Word of God and life experiences. He will teach us about the Kingdom of God so that we are able participate in the works of God on earth.
