EQUAL SHARES FOR ALL

"Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike." 1Samuel 30:24

Most people are naturally selfish and greedy. They will not share even when they have resources in abundance. When David went after the Amalekites for recovery after his town Ziklag was attacked, 200 men were severely exhausted and were left behind. 400 men went with him. Among the 400 were evil men and trouble makers who refused to share the spoil with their brethren upon return. David could not watch this happen, so, he gave an order that later became the rule.

The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. The spoil will be equally shared amongst all the soldiers regardless of whether they went to battle or they stayed. This is a rule of love.

Love does not consider contribution on sharing. Both the weak and the strong dispite their different contributions got the same share. Because of love, the strong help the weak, the rich help the poor. Different contributions but same share. The rule of love.

SHARING IS AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE

"Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality." Romans 12:13

Love is not theoretical and needs not be expressed in words alone. Emotional speeches and songs are good but there is always need to put into action the love that we poeticise.

Love changes things when put into action. Sharing the little that we have is a practical sign of love. It shows the world the true identity of the church. The bible says in Galatians 6:10, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Sharing and covering the need of others is an expression of love.

Love is better expressed than spoken.

CONTINUE DOING GOOD

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." Hebrews 10:24

Good deeds are acts of love. They are products of love. Without love one cannot do good deeds.

God wants us to share whatever we have between ourselves. That is what pleases him most. To see us living in harmony with no one lacking anything. The bible says, ```"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."``` (Hebrews 13:16) Giving is sacrifice that pleases God.

Sometimes we may get tired of doing good because the other side is not returning anything good. That has been catered for. Galatians 6:9 says, ```"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."``` Do not get tired of doing good. Time to reap will come if you don't give up.

Love is seen in small acts. No matter how hard, painful or expensive it is, do not give up, do not be weary.

Continue doing good.

"GOD LOVES SINNERS"

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

God did not wait for us to come out of sin so he could love us. God loved humanity when we were still deep in sin. He loved us so he could take us out of sin.

His love for the sinful world was towards salvation. We normally love perfect people, good looking and those without blemish. But God loves unconditionally. He loved us whilst we were in our bad situations, in our sin and he saved us. Love prompted salvation.

Love prompts action. Love sends us on a transformation drive. Love in order to transform.

LOVE SACRIFICES

"So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her." Genesis 29:20

Extra work is not painful when there is love. True love is sacrificial.

Jacob worked 7 years for Rachel, he got cheated and was given Leah instead. He was made to work another 7 years for Rachel again.

Because he loved Rachel, they seemed like a few days to him. The pain of being cheated, being made to work extra hard is not felt when there is love.

People sacrifice for their families because of love. They even work in painful and risky circumstances all because of love. True love sacrifices.

WE HAVE A MANDATE TO LOVE

"And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother." 1 John 4:21

A mandate is an order, a directive or a command. It is non negotiable and can not be questioned. When a command comes, you are expected to act. God has commanded us to love one another. It is not a suggestion, it is an instruction.

The mandate says whoever loves God must also love his brother. Claiming to love God alone is therefore not acceptable and is a sin. Sin is the transgression of the commands. Not doing whatever is instructed is sin. You might not hate your brother, but, not loving him is a sin.
