Maranatha Adventist High School has taken a significant step toward innovation and sustainability with the commissioning of a water purification plant for bottled water production. The project is expected to enhance the school’s financial capacity while ensuring a reliable supply of clean and safe drinking water for the school community.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, officials from the South Zimbabwe Conference including the Education Director, the local councillor, school heads from neighboring institutions, members of the School Development Association, as well as parents and students.
Speaking at the event, the Imbizo Districts Schools Inspector, Joyce Cynthia Mambayo commended the school for its forward-thinking initiative, noting that the project aligns well with the Ministry’s Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model, which promotes innovation, industrialisation, and practical solutions within educational institutions.
The local councillor also applauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable business venture. He pledged his support in promoting and assisting with the marketing and distribution of the school’s bottled water.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr J B Sibanda reflected on the symbolic name of the project, “Jacob’s Well.” Drawing from the Spirit of Prophecy, he highlighted that Jacob’s Well represents more than just physical water, but also spiritual nourishment—the “living water” that satisfies eternally. He emphasized that while the project will generate income for the school, it also presents an opportunity to positively impact lives and win souls.
The initiative stands as a model of how schools can integrate innovation, faith, and community development to achieve both educational and societal goals.
