Why are candles used during Holy Mass?

Candles symbolize Christ, the Light of the World (John 8:12📖). Their light reminds us that Jesus is present among His people, guiding us from darkness into His marvelous light.

During Mass, candles are placed on or near the altar to honor the sacred celebration and signify the holiness of Christ's sacrifice. They also remind us that we are called to let our own faith shine before others.

Did You Know? ✨

The Holy Mass has two main parts:

📖 1. The Liturgy of the Word
Here, we listen to God speaking to us through Sacred Scripture, the Gospel, and the homily.

🍞 2. The Liturgy of the Eucharist
Here, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, and we are nourished with the Bread of Life.

The Mass is more than an obligation—it is a sacred encounter with Jesus Christ. We first hear His Word, then receive Him in the Holy Eucharist.
