Zambia Baptist Association - ZBA

Zambia Baptist Association - ZBA ZBA updates and information BRIEF BACKGROUND
Zambia Baptist Association (Z. B. To advance church planting activities and establish Baptist Churches.
2. A.

A) traces its roots to the Baptist work which began in 1905 at
Kafulafuta Mission station by Nyasaland Industrial Mission which was connected to the Baptist
Union of Great Britain. The early mission activities were among the ethnic tribe of the Lamba
people who were the indigenous of the current Copperbelt Province and were a rural ministry. The beginning of mining operations on the Copperbelt led

to the formation of towns and
consequently mission activities expanded into these newly formed towns. In 1971 the number of Churches which were in towns was thirteen (13) churches which came
together and resolved to form Zambia Baptist Association with the following broader objectives;

1. To develop strategies for leadership development.
3. To serve as a channel of expression of social concerns and alleviate human need.
4. To provide channels of communication.
5. To promote unity and cooperation with other believers. VISION STATEMENT:
To see equipped member churches committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, united, in
obedience to the great commission. MISSION STATEMENT:
Motivated by the love of Jesus Christ, obedient to the Holy Scriptures and guided by the Holy
Spirit, we exist to assist the ministry of the local church through mobilizing, equipping and
coordinating member to reach the lost holistically, promoting unity, love, fellowship and
establishing indigenous New Testament churches for the glory of God. CURRENT MEMBERSHIP
We have two hundred (200) member churches scattered across the country. Some are in urban
areas while others are in the rural areas. Most of our member churches in urban areas are situated
in high density locations where poverty is higher that is living on less than one dollar per day. Some member churches have their own church buildings but more than half of the members do
not have their own church buildings and are meeting in classrooms. The most serious need is the development of leadership. The ratio of pastors to churches is 1 to 4
posing a big challenge to developing healthy churches. LEADERSHIP
The association is led by the general executive committee which is comprised of twenty one
people, seven elected members by the general assembly while the rest are ex officious from the
district executive committees, executive director and mission partners. Further, we have committees coordinating and leading the work for youths, children, social and
community development department, Christian education department, rural health centre, Dawn
Trust Community Care (an organization of Z. promoting other social work)

Agricultural project and women (ZBA Farm). The agricultural project is meant to serve two purposes; 1. It will serve as a demonstration centre
for peasant farmers in the surrounding communities to improve their livelihood. It will provide
trainings and marketing for their farm produce. 2. It will also be used as a source of revenue to
support other activities for the association. We are still seeking for partners for this project. OTHER ACTIVITIES

CHURCHES;
We have most churches on the Copperbelt, North Western, Northern, Lusaka and Muchinga
Provinces while in other Provinces our presence is as follows; Southern- 11, Eastern- 4,Western-
1, Central-9 and Luapula-2. SOCIAL CONCERNS;
We have been running a rural health centre in Mungwi district in Northern Province since 1993. We are providing in-patient, out-patient, ambulance service and outreach programs. We are also involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and testing programs through Dawn Trust
Community Care which is our organization. The organization is also offering agricultural
training for food security and provides a place for young people for games, studying and
informational source. We are running on small scale economic empowerment programmes for women and support
with school requisites for vulnerable children. ofiices
The association has been operating from rented facilities since its inception. Last year(2015) someone
who got land from the council in Ndola learnt about that need and decided to donate part of that
land to the association. This was a rare experience from an individual Zambian. Our next task
was to develop that land of which we shared that challenge with some friends. By God’s
grace our brothers in Christ felt moved by God to help in that need.Building is in process

FUTURE FOCUS:

1. To plant more churches locally and beyond our borders.
2. To seek partnership with other organizations in leadership development for short and
long term.
3. To collaborate with others in social concerns.
4. To facilitate church buildings where the needy is great.
5. To increase pastorate team as a way of reducing the current adverse ration of Pastors to
Churches.
6. To complete the building project for Z. centre within the time frame of one year.

Students in our region often find themselves confronted with a difficult choice: on one hand, secular universities that may offer a wide range of accredited programs and modern facilities but lack the spiritual grounding essential for holistic formation; on the other hand, faith-based institutions that provide strong spiritual guidance yet are limited in scope, unable to deliver the full breadth of accredited programs, advanced research opportunities, and comprehensive student services. This gap in educational provision leaves many aspiring leaders without access to the kind of holistic education that nurtures both mind and spirit. As a result, students who long to integrate their faith with professional excellence are often forced to compromise—either sacrificing spiritual depth for academic opportunity or limiting their career prospects in order to remain within a faith-centered environment. Our vision seeks to bridge this divide by creating a university that unites rigorous academic standards with spiritual formation, offering students the opportunity to grow intellectually, professionally, and spiritually in one place. In doing so, we will empower a new generation of leaders who are fully equipped to serve with wisdom, integrity, and faith, while making meaningful contributions to their communities and the wider world.
• Need:
Transitioning to university status will bridge this critical gap by offering accredited degrees that meet international standards, supported by modern facilities designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence. With expanded faculty expertise, we will be able to provide students with access to a broader range of disciplines, advanced research opportunities, and mentorship that integrates academic rigor with spiritual guidance. All of this will remain firmly anchored in Christian values, ensuring that our graduates are not only professionally competent but also spiritually grounded and committed to serving with integrity. To achieve this transformation, we require the generous support of donors who share our vision. Resources are needed to strengthen infrastructure—building classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and technology hubs that inspire learning. Investment in faculty development will empower our educators with training, research opportunities, and professional growth, equipping them to lead with excellence. Scholarships will ensure that education remains accessible to all, particularly to students from undeserved communities, so that financial barriers do not hinder their calling to pursue higher learning. Donor funding is not simply a contribution; it is a partnership in shaping a future where faith and scholarship unite to raise leaders who will bless communities, churches, and nations for generations to come.

Why funding is required:
To realize this vision, we require significant resources dedicated to strengthening our infrastructure, investing in faculty development, and establishing robust student support systems. CCM University infrastructure will provide modern classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and technology that create an environment conducive to innovation and excellence. Faculty development will ensure that our educators are equipped with advanced training, research opportunities, and professional growth pathways, enabling them to deliver world-class instruction rooted in both academic rigor and spiritual guidance. Student support systems—ranging from scholarships and mentorship programs to counseling and career services—will empower learners to thrive holistically, addressing not only their intellectual needs but also their spiritual and personal growth. Donor funding is the key to ensuring that this transition from Bible College to university status is not only successful but sustainable. With the generosity of partners, we will be able to maintain high standards of quality, expand access to undeserved communities, and inspire lasting confidence in the institution’s future. This investment is more than financial—it is a commitment to shaping generations of leaders who will carry forward a legacy of faith, excellence, and transformative impact.

Impact of donor support:
Every contribution made to this project directly empowers the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the tools, values, and vision needed to serve with wisdom, integrity, and faith. Your support ensures that students are not only academically prepared but also spiritually grounded, ready to face the challenges of today’s world with courage and conviction. By investing in this initiative, you become more than a donor—you become a partner in shaping a legacy of excellence and spiritual growth that will extend far beyond the walls of our institution. Together, we are building a foundation that will bless communities for decades to come, raising leaders who will transform workplaces, churches, and societies with Christ-centered service and innovation. Each gift, whether large or small, becomes a seed of hope and influence, bearing fruit in the lives of countless individuals and ensuring that the vision entrusted to us continues to flourish for generations.

What is the Centre for Christian Mission University project?

The project involves a comprehensive effort to strengthen our academic programs, ensuring that they remain rigorous, relevant, and responsive to the evolving needs of students and society. It includes upgrading our facilities to provide modern, well-equipped learning environments that foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence. At the same time, we are broadening our reach to serve a greater number of students, offering them holistic education that integrates spiritual formation with professional development. This initiative is not only about growth in numbers or infrastructure—it is a legacy-building endeavor that honors the sacrifices and vision of those who laid our foundation, while preparing us for a future of greater influence and impact. By investing in this project, we position ourselves to raise a new generation of leaders who are academically competent, spiritually grounded, and committed to transforming communities for the glory of God.

Brief Overview of the Centre for Christian Mission University Construction
Our university project represents a pivotal transition from Bible College to full university status, marking a historic milestone in our institutional journey. This initiative is not merely an administrative upgrade; it is a bold and visionary step that reflects our commitment to broadening the scope of Christian higher education. By embracing university status, we are expanding our capacity to nurture faith-driven leadership, foster academic excellence across diverse disciplines, and strengthen our impact within the wider community. This transformation will allow us to offer a richer array of programs, attract a broader student body, and cultivate graduates who are equipped not only with professional competence but also with spiritual conviction and a deep sense of service. Ultimately, this transition positions us to become a beacon of holistic education—where faith and scholarship unite to empower individuals, advance knowledge, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we step into this New Year, I greet you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With hearts full of gratitude, we look back on the year gone by—acknowledging God’s faithfulness in sustaining our churches, guiding our leaders, and strengthening our fellowship across every district.
This New Year is a fresh opportunity to deepen our walk with Christ, to renew our commitment to the Great Commission, and to serve our communities with compassion and integrity. Let us be reminded that we are one body in Christ, called to unity, holiness, and love.

May each church embrace the year with clarity of purpose, rooted in Scripture and empowered by prayer.

Let us continue to support one another, bearing each other’s burdens and celebrating each other’s victories.

May we shine the light of Christ in our neighborhoods, reaching the vulnerable, the youth, and the lost with the hope of the Gospel.

Let us honor God with our resources, time, and talents, ensuring that His work prospers in every local church, district and Zambia Baptist Association at large.

As the Zambia Baptist Association, we remain committed to walking alongside you—providing guidance, encouragement, and support as together we advance the Kingdom of God.

May the Lord crown this year with His goodness, grant you peace in your homes, strength in your ministries, and joy in your fellowship.

Let us enter 2026 with courage, unity, and unwavering faith, knowing that He who began a good work in us will carry it to completion.
Happy New Year to all our member churches, leaders, and families.
