On 6th August 2017 on the Day of the Transfiguration I was made a Deacon by the Rt Rev Dr Derek Garry Kamukwamba in the Church of God at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Nativity Ndola.

Many thanks to my family for the support, not forgetting the church and friends. Masala Parish you are best.

It is a wonderful and interesting journey with challenges at times. Through the five years of Ministry the Lord has made me strong and more mature. The Lord has taught me patience and endurance and of course to have a big heart.

A long and successful journey begins with a step (The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step). Therefore, I consider it Worth to celebrate the 5 years of Diaconal ministry.

TODAY'S INSIGHT

Theme: Forgive Others

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Each of us has been wounded at one point or the other. Some were victims of abusive parents, failed business partnerships, marital unfaithfulness, unbelievable betrayals, unpaid debts, neglect at old age, death of parents at tender age, rejection when in dire need of help, and so on. That life is unfair is an unfair reality. But we have to decide how to handle this unfairness.

There are two ways of reacting to our hurts. We can choose to allow them to make us better or bitter. We can let our hurts go or let them grow. But it’s better to release them as that is the only way to get healing.

Can you let go of someone who made an attempt on your life? David did that to Saul! Can you forgive folks who hate you for no just cause?

William Henry Drapper in his hymn "All Creatures of our God and King" Verse 4 states; And all ye men of tender heart, forgiving others take your part."

That’s what Jesus did to his killers! Can you forgive a superior who intentionally stand in the way of your progress or promotion at work? Can you forgive someone who wrecked your business or wasted your hard-earned money? Can you forgive someone who spreads false and malignant news about you? Can you forgive a sibling who ‘stole’ your spouse and took over your marriage? Can you forgive someone who placed a curse on you? These are deep indeed!_

Joseph’s brothers sold him off and then made their father to believe that a wild animal killed him! And that was terrible! For about thirteen years, his life never remained the same until divine mercy turned his story to glory. Now a revered man, he had the power to make his brothers’ lives miserable but he wholeheartedly forgave them. Beloved; your physical, emotional and spiritual healing depends on your readiness to forgive. Bitterness or holding on to past offenses does not help anyone. It only causes more damage.

The only way to receive God’s help and mercy is to let go of bitterness and resentment.

Today's Prayer

May God help us to be better instead of bitter; in Jesus' name....Amen.

Theme: The Easy Yoke

Matthew 11:30

"For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

A yoke is a single piece of wood that joins two oxen together. It keeps them at the same pace and in the same position. Jesus also said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and i will give you rest." A yoke was made of wood, hand carved to fit the neck and shoulder of the animal to prevent pain or discomfort.
Yoked oxen are not at liberty to do what they want but what the owner desires.

Trust me the yoke to you is a burden placed on it. But the one who placed the yoke on the oxen knows that the yoke is not a burden on the oxen but a fitting to prevent pain or discomfort whole performing task. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me"(vv.28-29).

From our text today, we can deduce that christianity is not a freelance life and Christians are not free lancers. Our Christian "profession" or "calling" must be approached with a regimental mentality just like the military men will do. What looks difficult to others is our normal lifestyle, because we are yoked.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:18 "the preaching of the gospel is foolishness unto those that are perishing but to us that believe it the power of God unto salvation".

The yoke is placed on us as a sign of submission to the will of our Owner._

We are to join with Gods plan for our lives and let His yoke guide us. This means that if He turns, we turn; if He stops, we stop; if He says move we move. This is the way we hit the mark.

Today's Prayer

Lord I will always seek you in everything thing because your yoke is light in your name Jesus I pray.

Amen..

Theme: Strengthen Your Faith

2Chronicles 20:17

‘Just take your positions and watch the Lord rescue you from your enemy.’

When you doubt God, you disappoint Him—because He deserves better. So, you must seek to strengthen your faith, because faith honours God and God honours faith. And He will send opportunities disguised as problems designed to strengthen your faith. When Job lost his health, his wealth, and his children, the Bible says he ‘fell to the ground and worshipped.’ (Job 1:20) Job did not worship God because of his circumstances, but in spite of them. Notice the two things he did:

(1) He looked up. He recognised God’s sovereign right to decide all things. He trusted God’s loving character and believed He would ultimately do what was best for him. And you must do that too!

(2) He listened for a word. He realised this testing time was also a teaching time, so he declared, ‘He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.’ (Job 23:10). Like gold being processed by the refiner, Job trusted God to bring out the best in him. Was it easy to do? No.

We want to cling to the familiar and return to the safety of yesterday, even though we know it’s not what God wants for us. The fears, surprises, and adversity that lie around the bend make us want to cut and run. But if you do, you will short-circuit God’s plan for your life. What should you do instead?

Take your stand in faith: ‘Just take your positions and watch the Lord rescue you from your enemy.’ Whatever you are going through right now, remember that God is ‘with you’._m

Today's Prayer

Lord strengthen my faith so that I may overcome every challenge of life that may come to discourage me in this journey of life in Jesus name. Amen....

TODAY'S INSIGHT

Theme: We make it with the Power of God

Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.

Zerubbabel was called to rebuild the temple. It was a huge undertaking, so God told him, “It is not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord… “Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way.”’ (Zechariah 4:6–7) When God calls you, you need to know:

You may have to walk alone.

When God uses you, people often assume you are strong and do not need anything. They do not realise you are just a regular person who is half scared to death at times, and who’s more amazed by your success than they are. And when nobody stands with you or ministers to you, you become vulnerable to discouragement.

You need God’s help or you are in trouble.

Samson discovered this: ‘He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him. Then the Philistines seized him.’ (Judges 16:20–21).

God stepped back and let Samson see that it was the Lord doing it, and not himself. So you must live with a sense of dependence on God.

It is God’s power, not yours, that makes the difference.

If you are waiting for God to give you exceptional equipment before you decide to get into the fight, you are not going to experience victory. God’s ‘strength is made perfect in weakness.’ (2 Corinthians 12:9) The way you know you are truly anointed is when God takes substandard equipment and performs supernatural feats.

And that only happens when you say, ‘Lord, I do not see how You could do this through me, but I am trusting You to.’ That is when He gets involved!

Today's Prayer
Lord, I acknowledge your power in my life and I realise without you I cannot do it. Help me in everything I do in Jesus Mighty Name.

Amen

TODAY'S INSIGHT

Theme: Join the right company

Proverbs 13:20
‘He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.’

The story is told of a farmer who was being pestered every day by a flock of crows in his cornfield. Deciding he would had enough, he loaded his gun and crawled unseen along the fencerow, determined to blow those pesky crows out of the sky.

Turns out this farmer had a very sociable parrot that indiscriminately made friends with everybody, and seeing the flock of crows he flew over and joined them in an effort to be friendly. The farmer saw the crows but did not see his parrot, so he took careful aim, fired, then jumped up and ran over to see how many crows he had shot.

Lo and behold, there was his parrot lying on the ground with a broken wing and a chipped beak, but still alive. The farmer tenderly picked him up and brought him home, where his children ran out to meet him. Seeing the injured parrot, they tearfully asked, ‘Daddy, what happened?’ But before he could answer, the parrot spoke up: ‘That’s what you get for being in a wrong company'.

You can never be at the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, if you are with the wrong company'. And as a parent, you need to teach this to your children. Monitor their Internet use, and warn them about predators who deliberately prowl online looking for ‘friends’.

Web-based horror stories of children being hurt and led astray are multiplying daily. If this sounds strong and urgent—that’s because it is!

Today's Prayer

Lord, give us wisdom to identify the right company so that we may not go astray in Jesus name.

Amen.
