Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Temptation is something that we know is there. The enemy uses temptation to make us fall. When the devil brings a temptation, he wants us to fall into it and fall from grace and fall short of our Father's glory.
God says, "What and pray, so that .........
God wants us to be proactive. In order not to fall into temptation, God says we should pray.
What is to be proactive?
To be proactive means taking initiative and anticipating future situations rather than just reacting to events as they unfold.
If U are proactive, U make things happen instead of waiting for them to happen to U.
In being proactive, U make positive changes, prepare for a situation, or prevent something from happening. In being proactive, U take steps to prevent things that U do not want to happen, not to happen.
The prefix pro means before.
The opposite of proactive is reactive.
To be reactive means reacting to something or doing something in response to something. U respond to a problem when it has happened or occurred, instead of preventing it from happening.
Most of us, and most of the time, we are not proactive. We are not watching and praying. We pray or start praying in response to what is happening or what has happened. We wait for things to happen, and then we react and start praying.
When our marriages are failing and falling apart, when are children have become food for the enemy, when our profits are dwindling and businesses failing. When the spiritual growth of our AKCs is stagnant and numbers decreasing, that is when we think of serious prayers. We start praying and fasting. ( not saying that praying and fasting is bad)
1 Peter 5:8
Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
That enemy, the devil, does not rest. He prowls around, he walks about, looking for someone to devour.
He is watching, he is looking, he is after U, after your marriage, after your children, after your job and businesses. He is after your church and ministry/calling.
When we are in the reactive mode, the enemy would have already caused damage to those things we hold dear. Sometimes lives would have been lost, our health would have been compromised, the destiny of our children altered, etc.
When we are in the proactive mode in as far as prayer is concerned, we will not wait for programme to pray and fast. U know what is at stake. U begin to stand in the gap, asking the Lord to protect, to preserve, to grow, to establish, to bring everything to their expected end. U do not give, or leave room or a foothold or an opportunity to the devil.
The devil knows how to use every opportunity give to him well.
May our good God and Lord help us to be proactive.
We have the keys, we have the power and authority. May we utilise them while we can.
God says in His Word, behold I have given U the power............ He continues to say, whatsoever U bind here on earth, it is bound in heaven and whatsoever U loose here on earth is loosed in heaven.
What a privilege. We can change the state of affairs, now, and holistically.
