Police in Mufulira have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the assault of a Chinese national working on the Mufulira–Mokambo Road construction project.
Zambia Police Service Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said the incident happened on June 28. Project supervisor, 46-year-old Shao Hong, had confronted tipper truck drivers who reported late for work and subjected them to breathalyser tests over suspected alcohol consumption.
Police say some drivers became unruly, and one allegedly punched and kicked the supervisor, causing bodily injuries. The suspect has been detained and is expected to face a charge of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
