SOUTH ZAMBIA CONFERENCE OFFICIALLY TO BE SPLIT INTO RUSANGU AND MOSI O TUNYA CONFERENCES

November 8, 2023

In a momentous decision that has sent ripples of excitement through the Seventh-day Adventist community in the Southern Province, the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID) Executive Committee convened on November 7, 2023, and officially approved the proposal to realign the South Zambia Conference (SZC) into two co-equal conferences: Rusangu and Mosi O Tunya Conference.

For years, rumors of this transformation had swirled within the church, leaving members eagerly anticipating the day when the dream would become a reality. That day has finally arrived, and the entire region is abuzz with exhilaration.

The move to divide the SZC into two co-equal conferences signifies a significant step forward for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Southern Zambia. It is a testament to the visionary leadership of the conference and the dedication of all those who have worked tirelessly to see this project through to fruition.

The South Zambia Conference has a rich history and a vibrant membership, making it one of the cornerstones of the Adventist faith in the region. By splitting it into Rusangu and Mosi O Tunya Conference, the church aims to enhance its ability to meet the spiritual and administrative needs of its members more effectively.

We Should be Minding People's Business

As a church, should we be in the business of "minding" people's business? In other words, should we be concerned about what others are going through? Galatians 6:2 says Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Jesus set the perfect example in the way he dealt with people. He sought their needs and then showed them the way to eternal life. Yourself, as a leader and a member of this church, you should be doing the same.

When was the last time you earnestly asked a member or visitor, "Can I help you with anything?" When was the last time you gave yourself in service unselfishly, expecting nothing in return? These are ways we can share in someone else's burden and minister to their needs.

Jesus put it this way: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another" (John 13:34-35).
