_Sabbath School Summary_
*The Promised Son*
_Lesson 3_
_Memory Text: Hebrews 1:2, 3_
*SABBATH*: The redemptive story of Jesus has attracted the interest of the; learned, eloquent, young, & old. The promise of a “seed” (a Redeemer Son) was passed on to Adam & Eve, Abraham, & David (Gen. 22:16-18, Gal. 3:16, 2 Sam. 7:12-14, Ps. 89:27-29). Adam & Eve hoped that Cain would be the Son (DA, p. 31). But what all these patriarchs never imagined was that the Son would be God Himself.
*SUNDAY*: Paul, in his time, held the view that he was living in “the last days”. “Last days” & “Latter days” are two words that talks about the future (Deut. 4:30, 31; Jer. 23:20). “The time of the end” talks of the “last days” (Dan. 8:17, 12:4). The coming of Jesus fulfilled God’s promise of raising a King for us in the “latter days” & ushered in the “last days” (Num. 24:14-19, Isa. 2:2, 3, Col. 2:15, John 12:32).
*MONDAY*: For so many years the Word of God had not been heard by the Jews. Malachi, Ezra, & Nehemiah were among the last prophets to proclaim God’s Word. Now, God has spoken to us by His Son. This is captured in Hebrews 1:1-4 which is arguably deemed the most beautiful sentence in the NT. Christ came to expound on the OT which spoke of Him as the Savior (Heb. 2:10, 6:20, Rev. 3:21).
*TUESDAY*: Paul reiterates Christ’s words; “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” in Hebrews 1:2-4. Christ is the express image of God & His face beams with glory. In the OT, the glory of God is depicted as light or radiance. Christ as Light came to show us God’s glory (Heb.1:3; John 1:6-9, 14-18; 2 Cor. 4:6, Matt. 17:2). As the sun is seen by its rays, so is God seen through Christ (see Gen. 1:26, John 14:9).
*WEDNESDAY*: “All things were made by Him [Christ]; and without Him was not anything made that was made.” Christ was the agent of creation. God made this world through Him (Isa. 44:24, 45:18, Neh. 9:6, Heb. 1:2, 3). The mystery of Godliness tells us that there’s only one Creator—God; Jesus
