We were greatly blessed to host *Pastor Finny from India* as our guest speaker at Kanyama East Congregation.
Pastor Finny ministered from *John 5:1-8* – the narrative of the healing at the Pool of Bethesda. In this powerful passage, Jesus encounters a man who had been sick for 38 years, waiting by the pool for someone to help him into the water. Jesus’ question, _“Do you want to be healed?”_ followed by _“Get up, take up your bed, and walk,”_ carried a deeper charge for us today.
The central thrust of Pastor Finny’s message was *evangelism*. He reminded us that just as Jesus went to the pool where people were hurting and stuck, the church’s mandate is to go where people are. We cannot remain comfortable inside our walls while souls are waiting for someone to bring them to Jesus.
Key points from the sermon:
1. *See the need*: The man at the pool was invisible to many, but Jesus saw him. We must have eyes to see the lost, the broken, and the hopeless around us.
2. *Ask the question*: _“Do you want to be healed?”_ Evangelism starts with engagement. We must be willing to speak to people about Jesus.
3. *Speak the command*: _“Get up.”_ The Great Commission is not passive. We are called to call people to rise, leave their place of defeat, and follow Christ.
4. *Leave the comfort zone*: Like Jesus who went out of the temple to the pool, we must be ready to leave our comfort zone and take the Gospel into homes, streets, and workplaces.
Pastor Finny challenged Kanyama East: _“The church’s mandate is to carry on with the Great Commission. Be ready to get up for the Gospel.”_ It was a call to action – not just to be blessed, but to be a blessing.
We thank God for Pastor Finny’s obedience in traveling from India to minister to us. His word stirred our hearts and rekindled our passion for souls.
May Kanyama East rise to this call: to see, to ask, to speak, and to go, until all know the healing power of Jesus Christ.
*John 5:8* – _“Jesus said to him, ‘Get up, take up your bed, and walk.’”
