Sunday worship service
Bethel Kabwata AME Church
Sermon: Rev Dr Suzanne Matale
Theme : Don't Give Up – Pay Day is Coming
The Summary

Beloved congregation of Bethel Kabwata AME Church, grace and peace be unto you from our Lord Jesus Christ. I've often criticised preachers who lean heavily on numerous Scriptures in their messages, yet today, I find myself doing the very same.

The Word of God is alive and powerful, and it speaks directly to our theme: Don't Give Up – Pay Day is Coming. Let us draw from its depths.
Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Dear saints, do not grow tired in your labors of love. Pay day is coming.
Turn with me to Exodus 14:14, where the Lord declares through Moses,
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." In the heat of your trials, be still and know that I am God, as Psalm 46:10 assures us.

In your petitions, stand still, for it is not by power nor by might, but by my Spirit, says the Lord in Zechariah 4:6. Even as you sit here today, be still – God will fight your battles.
We often fancy ourselves powerful enough to resolve every issue in our own strength.

But not everything lies within our grasp. Some matters we must surrender to God, who answers our prayers.

When you do not know where to turn or what to do, remember: many of you have scribbled in your diaries or noted on your phones, "The Lord will fight all my battles for me." Yet you write these words without truly believing them.
Some have even stopped coming to church, claiming their problems are too overwhelming. But God says, "I am above all your problems.

" Cast your burdens upon Him, as Psalm 55:22 urges, for He will sustain you and never let the righteous fall. Most of us clutch Scriptures we do not truly believe. God also whispers, "Fear not," time and again.

Now, I know some of you might start directing this message at the pastor – but I am merely the messenger. Believe the Word and walk by faith, not by sight, as 2 Corinthians 5:7 instructs.
And let us be honest: many here are itching to end the service, eager to scroll through TikTok for entertainment. Most of you can't wait for the service to be over so you can go to your TikTok.

Yet faith demands more. Consider Abraham, commanded to sacrifice his only son Isaac. He did not waver in doubt; he obeyed and went forth (Genesis 22).

Today, we shrink back, riddled with fear and uncertainty. Let us not demand results here and now – cultivate patience. As the proverb wisely states, "Easy come, easy go."
As we depart today, many carry heavy debts. You borrow from CDF, splash out on girlfriends, drinking and feasting – "What will you have?" you ask.

When the money runs dry, you accuse your innocent uncle of bewitching your finances. You have forgotten to invite God into your plans, that your resources might multiply as in Malachi 3:10.
We are chronic complainers. Sometimes, when a call comes from a perpetual grumbler, you hesitate to answer. Believe by faith, not by sight.

Complaining stifles spiritual growth. You are assigned to sweep, yet you murmur. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."

If you sell tomatoes, you are the CEO of your enterprise. Hard-earned money is the only real money. Be proud of it !
You protest, "I cannot sell at the market – what will my friends think?" You have a Friend in Jesus. Do not envy others. My friend's boyfeind has a bid nice car, you dont know how that car was bought whether it was through stollen money. Be content with what you have.

Plan ahead, move forward, and keep moving. Move move and move. Yet remember: stand still and know that I am God.
Don't give up, Bethel Kabwata – pay day is coming. Amen.
