Topic: KEEP FIT & STAY IN SHAPE
“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come” — 1 Timothy 4:8, NLT
TRAIN FOR GODLINESS. Just as physical exercises strengthen the body, spiritual exercises – build and shape your godly life.
WHAT IS GODLINESS? It is the outward expression of your inner life— that life of holiness and righteousness. It’s devotion in action!
GODLINESS IS SEEN IN HOW YOU LIVE, how you speak, and how you respond to God and the things of God. It’s reflected in your conduct, your choices, and your commitment to the things that honor Him.
EXAMPLES OF SPIRITUAL EXERCISES include prayer, fasting, attending church, serving God, giving, studying the Word, walking in love, and dressing with modesty and decency.
EXERCISE YOURSELF! No one can do it for you—it’s a personal responsibility. You must take charge of your own spiritual health!
EXERCISE YOURSELF! IT PAYS GREAT DIVIDENDS! While physical exercise has some value, spiritual exercise—training in godliness—is profitable in all things. It benefits both this life and the life to come!
EXERCISE YOURSELF DAILY! This isn’t a one-time action, but a continuous, progressive discipline. Just as muscles grow with consistent training, godliness is built day by day.
It’s so important that you KEEP FIT & STAY IN SHAPE physically, and spiritually.
CONFESSION
I commit myself to training myself in godliness.
