John 4:34
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.”
THE WILL OF GOD – YOUR PURPOSE (Part 1)
To give some context: Jesus had just finished speaking with the Samaritan woman at the well. She left her water jar behind and ran to tell the villagers to come and see if Jesus might be the Messiah. Meanwhile, the disciples urged Jesus to eat something. But Jesus, knowing that the villagers were on their way, refused to be distracted by food. He chose instead to focus on the will of God.
His response to the disciples was clear: His priority was to do the will of God and to complete it.
What does this teach us? It shows that we must learn to place the will of God above our own desires—above everything. God did not create us simply to exist or to fill the earth. He has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives. Our responsibility is to discern that purpose and fulfill it.
If you do not yet know your purpose, ask God, because it surely exists. Look around you: have you ever seen anything God created without a purpose? Everything He made serves a purpose. You, too, were created for one. To die without fulfilling it would be a great tragedy.
After giving your life to Christ, the next step is to discover your purpose. While you wait for God to reveal it, begin by obeying His Word. How can you expect God to entrust you with greater things if you neglect the basics? Show Him your seriousness by living in obedience to Scripture. Then He will be pleased to reveal your purpose.
Jesus is the Savior, the Lord, and the Christ.
