EFZ Executive Director Reverend Allan Kasungami writes.

I had the privilege of joining Her Excellency Rebecca Terzeon, the British High Commissioner, on the podium, where she recognized the significant contributions of Civil Society in Zambia. Representing CCMG and myself, I emphasized that CSOs face significant challenges, particularly due to funding reductions, yet remain crucial to the country's democratic process, especially with the upcoming August 13 elections.

EFZ CALLS FOR PEACEFUL NOMINATION PROCESS

20th May 2026.

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) is deeply concerned by the violent incidents that have disrupted the ongoing nomination process in Mazabuka Central, Mumbwa Central, and Mufwashi in Kasempa.

We unequivocally condemn all acts of violence during nominations and campaigns. The nomination process should be a moment of celebration and dignity—an opportunity for political parties to present credible candidates who aspire to serve the nation.

Sixty years after independence, Zambia’s democracy must continue to mature and stand as a beacon of peace and stability for Africa and the world.

We therefore urge political party supporters to refrain from violence and call upon the police to act decisively in containing the situation and bringing perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law.

As Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 4:31–32: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

God bless and keep Zambia.

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ARCHBISHOP EMERITUS TELESPHORE GEORGE MPUNDU

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – It is with a profound sense of sorrow and deep respect that the Board , Management and staff of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia convey our heartfelt condolences on the passing of the Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Lusaka, Most Rev. Telesphore George Mpundu.
He went to be with the Lord on Friday, 15th May 2026, at the age of 78.

We offer our deepest sympathies and prayers to the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), the Archdiocese of Lusaka led by Most Rev. Dr. Alick Banda, the bereaved family of the late Archbishop, and the entire Catholic community in Zambia and beyond.Archbishop Emeritus Mpundu was a unique spiritual leader, a courageous moral compass, and an irreplaceable voice for the voiceless in Zambia.

Over a distinguished episcopal ministry spanning nearly four decades, including his service as Bishop of Mbala (Mpika) for 19 years and Archbishop of Lusaka from 2006 until his retirement in 2018, his impact was monumental. Serving multiple terms as the President of the ZCCB, he consistently guided the Church and the country through complex national landscapes with exceptional wisdom, humility, and moral clarity. He will be remembered far beyond the pulpit as a fierce advocate for social justice, human rights, good governance, and national unity.

He fearlessly spoke truth to power, championing the cause of the marginalized and holding national leaders accountable with unmatched civic courage. His death marks the end of an era, leaving behind an enduring legacy of principled, selfless service.

As the nation mourns this great son of the soil, we stand in solidarity with his family and the Catholic Church during this time of immense grief.

We pray that the Almighty God grants the bereaved family and the faithful comfort, strength, and peace.May the soul of Archbishop Emeritus Telesphore George Mpundu rest in eternal glory and peace.

PACWA PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON EFZ DIRECTOR

By EFZ Communications

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director, Reverend Allan Kasungami, hosted the executive leadership of the Pan African Christian Women Alliance (PACWA)—platform for women in the EFZ fraternity in Zambia and, at the continental level, a Commission of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA).

In his remarks, Reverend Kasungami emphasized the indispensable role of women in the life of the Church:

“Throughout history, women have played vital and multifaceted roles in the Christian community—contributing to leadership, ministry, teaching, worship, and the nurturing of faith. Scripture portrays women as integral members of society, shaping the spiritual, familial, and communal life of God’s people. EFZ itself stands today because of the prayers and support of women.”

Meanwhile, PACWA Zambia Chapter Chairperson, Mrs. Hope Siwale highlighted the Alliance’s ongoing impact, citing initiatives such as the Chibolya Project, which trained women in an empowered worldview—a transformative model addressing dependency mindsets and promoting individual empowerment among communities living in poverty. She further noted PACWA’s commitment to nationwide prayer every Tuesday and Friday.

“We are determined to raise and mentor young women leaders to take up the mantle of service and leadership,” Mrs. Siwale affirmed.

Looking ahead, EFZ through PACWA will host a flagship continental women’s gathering in September 2026, bringing together leaders from across Africa to strengthen networks, inspire intergenerational leadership, and advance the mission of empowering women in faith and community transformation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EVANGELICAL FELLOWSHIP OF ZAMBIA STATEMENT ON THE PREVALENCE OF INDECENT MEDIA CONTENT AND THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN ZAMBIA

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – We wish to express our deep concern regarding the increasing prevalence of immoral, explicit, and indecent material across various media platforms in Zambia, particularly within the music and entertainment industry. Of alarming concern is the sharp increase in content that promotes lifestyles and behaviours inconsistent with Zambia’s cultural and Christian values, which erode family values and remain widely accessible to minors.

Article 8 of the Constitution of Zambia (2016) identifies our national values as rooted in morality and ethics, while Article 11 specifies the protection of young persons from exploitation as a fundamental right. Media content should contribute positively to society and support, rather than undermine, the values that nurture our families.

We are encouraged by the recent address by H.E. President Hakainde Hichilema, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting families in raising a God-fearing and productive society. The family unit is the foundation of a stable nation; however, children are highly impressionable. Prolonged exposure to age-inappropriate content poses serious risks to their mental development and overall well-being.

*Formal Engagement with Regulators*

In light of these concerns, we have formally engaged the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) and the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA). As the statutory bodies mandated to regulate legacy and digital media, we have urged them to implement proactive, effective, and lasting measures.

Our engagement focuses on:

✅️Strengthening content standards.
✅️Improving classification and monitoring mechanisms.
✅️Ensuring minors are protected before harmful material is broadcast.

*The role of corporations and stakeholders*

We believe that corporates, advertisers, and brand partners play a critical role. By exercising responsible sponsorship decisions, businesses can ensure they do not support harmful content while instead promoting media that fosters social cohesion and positive development.Zambia’s values emphasize decency and the protection of the vulnerable. We remain committed to working constructively with all authorities to ensure media content upholds these standards. We will await formal feedback from the IBA and ZICTA and will continue to update the public as these engagements progress.

*Call to Action*

Our objective is clear: to safeguard the dignity of our children and preserve the integrity of the family unit. We call upon content creators, broadcasters, regulators, parents, and the public to play their respective roles in promoting responsible media practices that serve the best interests of our nation.

CHAPLAIN GENERAL COMMENDS EFZ FOR PEACEBUILDING AND UNITY IN ZAMBIA

Lusaka — The Chaplain General, Brigadier General Reverend Henry Matifeyo, has commended the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) for its outstanding role in fostering peace and unity across the nation.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on EFZ Executive Director Reverend Allan Kasungami, Rev. In welcoming the Chaplain General, to EFZ, Rev. Kasungami reaffirmed EFZ’s commitment to truth and unity, emphasizing that “the church speaks to facts, not innuendo, via social media, and seeks to build peace and unity in the nation as part of its mandate.” He added that EFZ, through its board and leadership, often works quietly behind the scenes to resolve conflicts and is actively praying and working for peace, particularly in the lead-up to the forthcoming elections.

Proverbs 31:25-26, "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."

Let us pray,
Gracious and loving God, Today we give thanks for mothers— for their strength, their patience, and their unwavering love. Bless those who mother with joy, those who mother through challenge, and those who mother in ways unseen by the world. Comfort those who grieve, who long to be mothers, or who carry complicated memories today. Fill every heart with peace, and let Your love surround all who nurture, guide, and care. we honor them not only with our words, but with lives that reflect the love they have given.

Amen.

Today, 28th April, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia EFZ joins the rest of the nation in solemn celebration and honour of Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, our Founding Father—a distinguished patriot, tireless champion of peace, and builder of nations. His life remains a profound testament to unity, selfless service, and unwavering love for Zambia and humanity.

We fondly recall his enduring call, “One Zambia, One Nation”—a timeless declaration that must continue to shape our national identity and guide our collective destiny.

As we commemorate his life and legacy, we pray that Zambia will rise above political, tribal, and religious divisions and stand united as one people with a shared vision.

May we embrace peace, foster unity, and serve one another with humility, compassion, and purpose.Tiyende Pamodzi

We are guided by the Word of God in Psalm 133:1: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

Tiyende Pamodzi.

May God richly bless Zambia.
