Missionary Associates Formation Retreat – Mazabuka Chapter

On 25 July 2026, the Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) and the Young Oblate Missionary Associates (YOMA) of the Mazabuka Chapter gathered for a joint formation retreat facilitated by Rev. Fr Vincent Sakala, OMI at Our Lady of Assumption Parish.

The retreat was aimed at deepening the participants' understanding of the Oblate mission while renewing their faith, commitment, and missionary spirit. It was a wonderful opportunity for both MAMI and YOMA members to learn, pray, and grow together in the charism of St Eugene de Mazenod.

In his reflections, Fr. Vincent reminded the participants that, as Missionary Associates, they are called to make a meaningful difference by adding value to the Church and the communities they serve. He emphasised that our mission is to help people recognise their dignity as human beings first and then accompany them on their journey of faith as Christians, supporting one another as we strive for holiness.

A key message throughout the retreat was the importance of unity. Fr. Vincent encouraged everyone to begin building unity within the Association itself by loving rather than judging one another. He urged members to cultivate a spirit of mutual respect, encouragement, understanding, and genuine care, recognising that a united community is a powerful witness to the Gospel.

The joint formation of MAMI and YOMA highlighted the importance of strengthening relationships across generations and working together in the shared mission of the Oblates. The retreat renewed the commitment of all participants to live the Oblate charism with zeal, compassion, and dedication as they continue serving the Church and society.

May God continue to bless the Mazabuka Chapter as it grows in faith, unity, and missionary commitment.

Today, Admini takes it personal as we stand with Rev. Fr. Sidney Musonda, OMI, in celebrating his 14th Priestly Anniversary.

Today, this celebration is personal because Fr. Sidney is a priest who has continued to inspire many through his simplicity, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to his vocation. He is passionate about the priesthood, dedicated to his mission, respectful of his brother priests, and blessed with an approachable and admirable personality. As the current Delegation Superior, he continues to provide servant leadership with humility and vision.

Fr. Sidney is truly a game changer. He believes in following up on matters, values clear communication, and is humble enough to apologise whenever there is a communication breakdown. These qualities have earned him the respect and admiration of many.

His love for the Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) is evident. He delights in seeing the Lay Associates grow in both faith and mission. He remains closely connected with the Director of the Lay Associates, Rev. Fr. Kalebwe, OMI, as well as the MAMI Zambia Delegation leadership, always encouraging and supporting the growth of the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod.

Rev. Fr. Sidney Musonda, OMI, we sincerely appreciate your passion for advancing the Oblate mission and nurturing the missionary spirit among God's people.

Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) Zambia Delegation at the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Msgr. Linus Ngenomesho, OMI

The Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) Zambia Delegation could not afford to miss the historic Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Msgr. Linus Ngenomesho, OMI, held at the Bishop's Grounds, Mangarangandja, in Rundu, Namibia.

Missionary work knows no boundaries. The ordination of Bishop Linus Ngenomesho OMI is a powerful sign of the continued growth and impact of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate across the world. It is a celebration not only for the Church in Namibia but for the entire Oblate family, united in the mission of bringing the Gospel to all people, especially the poor and the most abandoned.

Over the years, the Oblate family has experienced remarkable growth. This expansion has also strengthened the role of the Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate, who continue to become more engaged, committed, and passionate in supporting the Oblate mission. The presence of the MAMI Zambia Delegation at this joyful occasion demonstrates that the de Mazenod family stands together across borders, supporting one another in prayer, fellowship, and missionary service.

Beyond witnessing this sacred celebration, the visit provides a valuable opportunity for the Zambian delegation to interact with their counterparts in Namibia, exchange experiences, learn from one another, and deepen the bonds of fraternity that unite the international MAMI family.

We joyfully wish Angela Zulu a very happy and blessed birthday.

Angela is a dedicated member of Mary Immaculate Parish, Lusaka, and has faithfully served as a member of the Young Oblates Missionary Associates (YOMA) for the past 10 years. Throughout this time, she has demonstrated unwavering commitment, generosity, and a willingness to serve, always making herself available for outreach programmes and other missionary activities.

Angela is truly an asset to the Oblate family. Her dedication to the Church is further reflected in her active membership of the Nazareth Group, where she continues to contribute her time and talents in service of God's people.

As she celebrates another year of life, we thank God for the gift that she is to the Church and to the community. May the Lord bless her abundantly with good health, joy, wisdom, and many more years of fruitful service.

MISSIONARY ASSOCIATES OF MARY IMMACULATE (MAMI) – ZAMBIA DELEGATION TO RUNDU, NAMIBIA

The Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) Zambia Delegation will undertake a mission trip to Rundu, Namibia, from 17th to 20th July 2026. The delegation will be drawn from the Lusaka, Mazabuka, Mongu, and Lukulu Chapters, representing the growing MAMI family in Zambia.

The visit will focus on three important missions:

1. Episcopal Ordination

On 18th July 2026, the delegation will join the faithful of the Vicariate of Rundu in witnessing and celebrating the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-Elect MSGR. Linus Ngenomesho, OMI. The ordination ceremony will be held at the Bishop's Office Grounds in Mangarangandja, Rundu.

2. Thanksgiving Mass and Taking Possession of the Cathedral

On 19th July 2026, the delegation will attend the Thanksgiving Mass and the official taking possession of St. Mary's Cathedral by the newly ordained bishop. This will be a moment of great joy and thanksgiving for the local Church as it welcomes its new shepherd.

3. Fraternal Exchange and Formation

The third mission will be a fraternal interaction between MAMI Zambia and MAMI Namibia. Through fellowship, sharing of experiences, and formation, members will learn from one another and strengthen their commitment to the missionary charism of the Oblates, Ms. Vendura putting things in order.

The participation of the Lusaka, Mazabuka, Mongu, and Lukulu Chapters reflects the spirit of unity and collaboration that characterizes MAMI. As ambassadors of Zambia, the delegates will not only represent their respective chapters but also foster stronger bonds between MAMI communities across Southern Africa.

The MAMI Kabwe Chapter successfully held its Renewal of Commitments Day, marked by prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

The day began with a period of reflection, followed by an interview session conducted by Rev. Fr. Kalebwe, OMI, during which candidates expressed their desire to renew their commitments as Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate. This was followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the renewal ceremony.

The celebrations concluded with Holy Mass, during which a total of 20 Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate renewed their commitments.

We congratulate the Kabwe Chapter on this important milestone and continue to keep them in our prayers as they faithfully live out their missionary vocation under the patronage of Mary Immaculate.May God continue to bless the Kabwe Chapter and strengthen all MAMI members in their commitment to missionary service.

60 Lay Associates Mazabuka Chapter Renew Their Commitments During Bicentenary Celebrations

Sixty Lay Associates comprising the Missionary Associates of Mary Immaculate (MAMI) and the Young Oblates Missionary Associates (YOMA) renewed their commitments in a colorful and prayerful ceremony during the Bicentenary Celebrations at Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Mazabuka.

The renewal of commitments, which takes place annually, was one of the highlights of the celebrations as members reaffirmed their dedication to the Oblate charism and mission. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev Fr Musonda OMI, Superior of the OMI Zambia Delegation.

In his homily, Fr. Musonda encouraged the associates to remain faithful to their calling and to continue embracing and living the spirituality of Eugene de Mazenod. He urged them to be committed witnesses of the Gospel, serving the Church and society with zeal, compassion, and a missionary spirit.

The commitment renewal formed part of the parish's grand commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, a celebration marked by vibrant liturgy, joyful singing, traditional dances, and thanksgiving for God's blessings throughout the years.

For the associates, the renewal was not only a reaffirmation of their promises but also a renewed commitment to walk in the footsteps of St. Eugene de Mazenod and to continue supporting the mission of the Oblates in their communities.

Today, not only the Mongu Chapter but the entire MAMI Zambia family celebrates a true legend, Anna Luapula, on her birthday.

Anna is a beacon of wisdom in MAMI, and one thing that can never be taken away from her is her exceptional gift for organization and leadership. She is the woman behind the successful hosting of the Bicentenary celebrations in Kalabo, an achievement that continues to inspire many of us.

As Lay Associates, we celebrate her today with gratitude and admiration. We give her her flowers while she can enjoy them, recognizing her dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the mission of MAMI.

May God continue to bless her with good health, joy, wisdom, and strength as she continues to serve and inspire others.
