What looks like the same drink isn’t the same product.

🔴A 500 ml or 250ml bottles of Fanta in Zambia contain ~53 g of sugar (about 10–11 teaspoons) and added sodium (~22 mg).

🟢 The European version is formulated with less sugar, no added sodium, and more natural ingredients.
This matters.
🔴High sugar intake drives repeated glucose and insulin spikes → leading to insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Over time, it also increases blood pressure, damages blood vessels, and raises the risk of heart attacks and stroke. Add sodium into the mix, and the strain on the heart and kidneys increases even more.
🔴Beyond cardiometabolic disease, excess sugar fuels chronic inflammation, a known pathway linked to cancer risk.
This is not just about choice—it’s about policy.
We need stronger regulation on sugar, sodium, and additives in beverages to protect public health.
