STIRE UP THE FIRE
Based on 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Verse 6 encourages us to fan into flame or rekindle the gift/fire of the Holy Spirit that resides within us. Neglecting to do this can lead to the quenching or even the complete extinguishing of that spiritual fire.
When the fire of the Spirit burns brightly within us, four transformative things begin to happen, as outlined in verse 7 of the same chapter in 2 Timothy:
1. Fear is Eliminated: We are freed from fear, gaining the courage to boldly pursue God's will for our lives.
2. Power is Activated: Divine power is unleashed within us – the power to live a supernatural life, to destroy the works of darkness, and to live righteously as we carry out God's work.
3. Love is Activated: We begin to love as God loves, for this same fire ignites the divine love that has been poured into our hearts.
4. Self-Control is Manifested: We develop self-control in every area of our lives, leaving no room for sin or the devil's influence.
How do we stir the fire within us?
• Praying in the Spirit: Engaging in spiritual prayer.
• Meditating on the Word of God: Deeply reflecting on scripture.
• Praising and Worshipping: Expressing adoration and gratitude.
• Fellowshipping with Other Believers: Connecting and growing with other Christians.
• Speaking to Ourselves with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs: Edifying ourselves through spiritual expressions.
With these practices, beloved, it will be impossible to extinguish the fire, and you will be unstoppable in all that you do.
Shalom,
Pastor Jones.
