Today we are not just celebrating as Batswana, we are celebrating as the children of God. 60 years of independence is 60 years of God's grace upon Botswana.
Psalm 124 says, "If the Lord had not been on our side..."
On 30th September 1966, Botswana had very little. Few roads, few schools, few hospitals. But God was on our side.
God gave us leaders with wisdom - Sir Seretse Khama and others who chose peace, not war.
God gave us diamonds in the ground to educate our children.
God gave us rain - P**A - which is our prayer and our name for money.
God gave us peace. While other nations were fighting, Botswana was praying. That is why we are called a shining example.
As a church, what is our role for the next 60 years?
1. *We must continue to pray for Botswana.* For our President, our leaders, our youth. 1 Timothy 2 says pray for all those in authority.
2. *We must teach good morals.* Let us teach our children botho, honesty, hard work, and the fear of God.
3. *We must be part of building the nation.* The church must not just pray, we must work. We must help the poor, help the youth to stay away from drugs, and help keep our nation clean.
Today we thank God for 60 years.
Let us love Botswana. Let us protect our peace. Let us remain united.
I declare peace over Botswana. I declare progress over Botswana. I declare that Botswana will still be a light to Africa.
Happy 60th Independence Day!
God bless Botswana!
