KEEP SAFE GOD'S SALVATION
GOD REMEMBERS AND KEEPS HIS PROMISES
JUDGES 2:1
The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim. He spoke to the people of Israel there and said:
“I brought you up from Egypt. I led you to the land I promised to give your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my agreement with you.’”
LUKE 1:72–75
God said He would give mercy to our ancestors. He remembered His holy promise.
God promised Abraham, our father, that He would free us from the power of our enemies so that we would serve Him without fear.
We will be righteous and holy before God as long as we live.
LUKE 1:54–55
God has helped His people Israel, who serve Him. He gave them His mercy.
God has done what He promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his children forever.
MICAH 7:20
You will be true to the people of Jacob! You will be kind to the people of Abraham. You will do what You promised to our ancestors long ago.
PSALM 105:8–11
He will keep His agreement forever. He will keep His promises always.
He will keep the agreement He made with Abraham. He will keep the promise He made to Isaac.
He made it a law for the people of Jacob. He made it an agreement with Israel to last forever.
The Lord said, “I will give you the land of Canaan. The Promised Land will belong to you.”
EXODUS 6:4
I also made My agreement with them to give them the land of Canaan. They lived in that land, but it was not their own land.
GENESIS 17:7
And I will make an agreement between Me and you and all your descendants from now on. I will be your God and the God of all your descendants.
DEUTERONOMY 29:14–15
But the Lord is not just making this agreement and its promises with you.
You are standing here before the Lord your God today. But He is also making it with those who are not here today.
☆ IN TURN, OBEY GOD
■ WARNING NOT TO DISOBEY GOD
JUDGES 2:2
“But in turn, you must not make an agreement with the people who live in this land. You must destroy their altars. But you did not obey Me. How could you do this?”
EXODUS 34:12
Be careful. Do not make any agreement with the people who live in the land where you are going. It will bring you trouble.
NUMBERS 33:55–56
But if you do not force those people out of the land, they will bring you trouble.
They will be like sharp hooks in your eyes. They will be like thorns in your sides. They will bring trouble to the land where you live.
I will punish you as I had planned to punish them.
DEUTERONOMY 7:2
The Lord your God will hand these nations over to you. You will defeat them.
You must destroy them completely. Do not make a peace treaty with them. Do not show them mercy.
PSALM 106:34–35
The people did not destroy the other nations as the Lord had told them to do.
Instead, they mixed with the other nations, and they learned their customs.
DEUTERONOMY 12:8
You must not do as we are doing here today. All of us are doing only what we think is right.
EZRA 9:13–15
What has happened to us is our own fault. We have done evil things. Our guilt is great.
But You, our God, have punished us less than we deserve. You have left a few of us alive.
We should not again break Your commands by allowing marriages with these wicked people. If we did, You would get angry enough to destroy us. Then none of us would be left alive.
Lord, God of Israel, by Your goodness a few of us are left alive today. We admit that we are guilty. None of us should be allowed to stand before You.
JUDGES 2:3
“I have something to tell you. I will not drive those people out to make room for you. They will be like thorns in your sides. Their gods will be a trap to you.”
PSALM 106:36
They worshiped statues of their gods. That became a trap for them.
EXODUS 23:32–33
Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.
Do not let them live in your land. If you do, they will cause you to sin against Me.
If you worship their gods, that will certainly be a trap for you.
