Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Mark the last statement “but time and chance happeneth to them all”

Prov 21:17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

Prov 22:2 The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.

1 Samuel 2:7 (KJV) The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

To explain 1 Samuel 2:7
He maketh poor when you misuse the opportunity and chance and he maketh rich when you make use of the chance. Remember the three servants with the talents? It was done to them according to how everyone of them used the chance.

Jesus also further says
Matt 25:29 NLT To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.
Ecclesiastes 9:11
