Ps Delta Muzwenga admonishes "A CALL TO BE ENGINEERS OF PEACE IN THIS ELECTION SEASON"
He writes.. ..
Dear Beloved Members and Leaders of Maranatha Mission District,
Grace and peace be unto you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I write this open letter to you with a pastoral heart concerning the ongoing situation in our nation. Our beloved country Zambia went to vote yesterday, and as we all can see and hear, the noise surrounding the counting of results has not yet settled. There is tension, anxiety, and commotion in many of our communities.
In such a time as this, I wish to remind every member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Maranatha Mission District that we have a higher calling.
1. Politics, We Are Brothers and Sisters.
We may come from different political parties, we may hold different political beliefs, and we may support different candidates. But beyond politics, beyond parties, beyond our personal affiliations, we are one family in Christ Jesus. Our unity in Christ must be greater and stronger than our political differences. Let us respect that bond above all.
2. Must Be Engineers and Advocates of Peace.
The Church must never be a source of confusion. A Seventh-day Adventist must be a pioneer of peace and a spreader of love, especially when the situation around us is not calm.
When people have resorted to fighting each other, insulting each other, and creating confusion, we must never be found among those causing the commotion. We must be among those preaching peace, calming the storm, and healing the wounds.
Let us maintain our Christian standard, our integrity, and our witness. Let us be good citizens who preach peace to everyone, regardless of their political affiliation.
3. We Enter the Holy Hours of the Sabbath.
As we have entered the holy hours of the Sabbath, may we remain peaceful and prayerful. Let every church, every family, and every individual make this Sabbath a day of intercession for our nation.
We pray that the situation will calm down, that peace will reign in Zambia, and that by God's grace, everything will go on well and in order.
I appeal to all our elders, deacons, departmental leaders, youth leaders, and all church members: Go out and be ambassadors of peace in your homes, in your neighborhoods, and on social media. Do not share unverified information, do not spread hate speech, and do not engage in arguments that destroy our testimony.
Let the world know us by our love.
I love you all, I pray for you all, and I pray for our nation Zambia.
May God bless you and may you have a happy and blessed Sabbath.
Yours in the Blessed Hope;
D Muzwenga
