By now most of you will have received Melissa’s newsletter regarding the end of her international mission service and the beginning of a new chapter in her, and our, lives. On Monday she will begin a new calling at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta. We hope to continue supporting our Zambian partner, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Synod of Zambia (CCAP Zambia) and we hope those of you who have supported God’s mission in Zambia will as well.

If you would like to continue supporting the work of CCAP Zambia financially, I urge you to donate directly to them via their website’s donation page. You will find instructions for sending your donations below. By donating to the partner directly, all of your money will reach the partner rather than having a hefty “overhead” fee deducted before the funds reach them. In addition, the needed funds will reach the partner in a timely manner, rather than taking months or sometimes even years to arrive.

As you weigh whether you wish to continue supporting CCAP Zambia, I hope you will give extra thought to the needs of Chasefu Theological College which faces challenges daily to continue their mission of educating new pastors. Taonga chomene.

This is a bittersweet announcement. This is my last newsletter as a mission co-worker with PCUSA. As you will read in the newsletter link I am posting, God has now called me to a new service in his mission. Friday, October 27th is my last day with Presbyterian World Mission. Monday, October 30th I begin serving with Central Presbyterian Church here in Atlanta.

Despite my new call and my new job - I am staying connected with my friends and co-workers in Zambia. But if you want t stay connected through PCUSA and Presbyterian World Mission, please connect with Rev. Paula Cooper, regional liaison for East and Central Africa at [email protected].

I am so grateful for all of your love, prayers and support over the last 8 years. What a blessing you have all been to me and the people of Zambia!

Melissa recalls her love for ministering with the CCAP Health Department in Zambia and rejoices in her new ministry with Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.

Since I'm going to be gone for a while and since our house has been broken into twice while we were gone and since paying rent while gone makes no sense, we decided to donate our furniture and household goods to Chasefu Theological College Women’s Hostel. The hostel is almost finished and now there will be plenty of beds for more women theological students!

View from my gate. My favorite tree in Zambia - the flamboyant. It's amazing how these trees bloom at the end of the dry season even before the rains come. God’s creation is so amazing!

Sundays are always my favorite day. The music, the prayers, the people, the worship, all provide a much needed renewal for my soul.
