PENTECOST SUNDAY CELEBRATIONS
EMPOWERED BY THE SPIRIT TO SHINE
24-05-2026
PREACHER: REV. KELLY BWALYA
Pentecost Sunday is a major event in the Christian calendar, commemorating the day when Christ's disciples received the Holy Spirit 50 days after Passover. On this day, Rev. Kelly Bwalya emphasized the significance of the Holy Spirit's empowerment in the life of believers.
In his sermon, Rev. Bwalya highlighted the importance of unity among Christians, noting that the Holy Spirit works best in an environment of peace. He called for peace and calm as Zambia heads towards elections, reminding that Zambia is a Christian nation.
"The Holy Spirit empowers us to speak the truth and be witnesses for Christ," Rev. Bwalya said. "When we accept Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit gives us courage and power to speak what is right, even in the face of opposition."
The Preacher encouraged believers to transition from fear to courage, and from unbelief to faith, just like the disciples did after receiving the Holy Spirit. "Let us always speak the truth, for it sets us free," he said.
Rev. Bwalya reminded the congregation that the Holy Spirit gives power to anyone, regardless of status, title, or language, and breaks all barriers. "God doesn't look at our status or title; where God calls, there is no boundary," he said.
The Rev. also emphasized the importance of using spiritual gifts to serve God and others, citing the example of the early church in Acts 2. He urged members to use their gifts wisely to serve God and invited them to partake in Holy Communion with pure hearts, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The celebration was marked by prayers, hymns, and a sense of community, as believers came together to worship and receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
May God bless you all, and may we continue to shine as witnesses for Christ in our communities!
