SERMON: “FOR HOW LONG MUST I TOLERATE?”

Proof Texts: Matthew 18:21–22, Colossians 3:13, 1 Corinthians 13:5

Forgiveness is not about allowing people to continually hurt or mistreat us. Jesus teaches us to forgive repeatedly, just as God has forgiven us. Forgiving someone does not mean what they did was right, nor does it mean we cannot set boundaries.

We must learn to forgive without carrying bitterness, anger, or keeping a record of every offence. We can forgive while still using wisdom and protecting ourselves from repeated harm.

You may not tolerate the behaviour, but you can forgive the person. Forgiveness frees your heart from bitterness and allows you to move forward.
