AUTHORITY OVER DEVILS

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

The day you were born into this world, God assigned angels to you. Their first and primary responsibility was to protect you and to see to it that in the process of time, you heard and received the Gospel for your salvation. As you progress in life, depending on what God has called you to do. He assigns more angels to you.

On the flip side also, Satan has demons whose primary responsibility from when you were a child was to devour, destroy, deceive you and lure you away from the path of righteousness. The Bible teaches about the woman who was about to deliver a child in the Book of Revelation; she was to deliver a man-child and the devil was there waiting right from the time of birth (Revelation 12:4-5).

This was not peculiar to that child alone; God only used that prophetic illustration to show us Satan’s modus operandi. Even now that you are born again, Satan still seeks to hinder you from serving the Lord. The Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

That is why you must be vehement when dealing with Satan: cast him out! You have the authority in the Name of Jesus to cast out devils (Mark 16:17). That authority is unrivalled and unparalleled in heaven, earth and in hell. Therefore, when you say, “Devil get out of here in the Name of Jesus”, He has got to comply.

Philippians 2:9 says God has highly exalted the Lord Jesus and given Him a Name that is above ever name. Ephesians 1:21 says He’s seated far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.

The best part, however, is that you are in Him; you are seated with Him on His exalted throne of grace, reigning through Him. Hallelujah! Satan has no right to run things in your nation, city, town, street, home, in your life or that of your loved ones. Put a stop to his work; cast him out in the Name of Jesus and he will be gone!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your mighty angels working for me, and for giving me authority over the devil and his demons. Thank you for the victory of the Lord Jesus over the devil and the entire host of darkness, which was for my sake. The enemy has no dominion in my home, my body, my finances or circumstances, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

LIVING IN HIS PERFECT WILL

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

The Bible tells us about the good, the acceptable or permissive will, and the perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). The good will of God is His general will. The acceptable will of God is one that He allows, not because there’s nothing better, but because of your insistence on it. There’re people that God granted what they were asking for even though it wasn’t His perfect will for them. Can God do that? Emphatically yes! It’s in the Bible. In 1 Samuel 8:1-22, the Israelites asked for a king because they wanted to be like other nations. Samuel the Prophet refused because it was contrary to God’s plan for His people.

But following their importunity, God had to instruct Samuel to do as the people had demanded. He said to Samuel, “…Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them” (1 Samuel 8:7). Think about it: God still helped them select the king, even though it wasn’t His perfect will for them to have one.

Sadly, there’re people who live outside of the perfect, the acceptable, and the good will of God. The school they attended, the course they studied, their career or business, the city they live in, etc., all their decisions were circumstantial, and as such, they live circumstantial lives. This isn’t God’s desire for His children.

How do you know and walk in God’s perfect will for your life? It’s through the knowledge of His Word and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is the will of God expressed. Through studying the Word and spending time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you become filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Talk to the Lord about your life’s decisions. He’s interested in everything about your life. Perhaps you’re learning of this truth for the first time and you’re unsure what your path is, it’s important for you to know that God has a perfect will for you. His will for you is an excellent life.

It’s not too late to turn to Him who has all answers. Yield yourself completely to the transforming power of His Word and surely, you’ll “…discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and
perfect” (Romans 12:2 ESV).

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m walking in sync with your Spirit and following your perfect plan for my life. Everything I require within the ambits of your will for me is supplied at the right time. I’m guided by the Spirit to make excellent decisions and take inspired actions which are in sync with your perfect will and divine purpose, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MASTER

“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 10:22).

When you study a story in Matthew 17:24-27, you will discover that when some Jewish officials came to harass Peter about taxes, they did not ask him about his own taxes. Rather, they said, “…Doth not your master pay tribute?” (Matthew 17:24). In other words, “Doesn’t your Master pay taxes?” They overlooked Peter and focused instead on the Master.

It has always been that way: it is all about our Master. The world hates us, not because of who we are, but because of who we represent – Jesus Christ. They will hate you for your faith in Him. No matter how good you are, how helpful you are, how kind you are, how successful you are; it will not make any difference to them because you are associated with Jesus Christ.

The hatred of Satan for Jesus is called the spirit of the world. The world hates Jesus. Many individuals who do not even know Jesus enough still hate Him, and you wonder why. How can they hate someone they do not even know? It is because of the spirit of the world. It has captured a lot of people in the world, and it moves them in a way that makes them think about the Master with hatred.

They want religion, they want to pray, they want to believe in something, but when you tell them about Jesus, they reject Him vehemently. A man named Simeon said that this Jesus is “set for a sign that shall be spoken against” (Luke 2:34).

There are people now who claim that when we say Jesus is the only way, it is “hate speech.” They are construing many of the things we say as hate speech thereby laying the foundation for a massive persecution of Christians in the last days.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:25, “…If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?” When you are persecuted, always remember that you were sent, not in your own name, but in the Name of Jesus. Therefore, the Lord Himself shall be your defense, and reward.

CONFESSION

I am Christ’s ambassador, the bearer of news of His saving power. I am steadfast, undaunted, always abounding in the work of the Lord, irrespective of the distress or persecution in this world. I triumph gloriously in Him always, boldly proclaiming the righteousness and blessedness of Christ and His saving power to the ends of the earth. Amen!

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you. The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept me saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

Luke 2:34 (KJV) “

GRACE HEAPED UPON GRACE

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18).

Did you know that you could walk in ever-increasing grace? This is what God wants for your life: grace heaped upon grace such that no matter the challenges you face, the grace to put you over is available. John 1:16 says, “And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.” The Amplified version says, “For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].”

The Greek margin actually says, “Grace heaped upon grace.” This encompasses spiritual blessings, favours, gifts, etcetera. Every day, be conscious that you have grace for whatever you need and for anything you have to do. The grace of God on your life is the inner working of the glory and power of God that radiates excellence. That grace causes you to have uncommon results.

Your contemporaries might be as gifted as you or even have more abilities than yourself, but God’s grace at work in you will take you to a higher plane and cause you to have results that completely outclass theirs Hallelujah.

Promotion is your life means more grace. If you are promoted with more responsibilities without the accompanying grace, you may not succeed at that new level. We understand how this works from a simple verse in the Bible: James 4:6 says, “But he giveth more grace…”

Notice it does not say, “He gave more grace”; rather, is says, “ He GIVES more grace.” That means you can enter into that verse every day, every week, every year; it is a word that it active and can be activated anytime. That is how the prophetic Word of God works; claim this for your life today.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I receive more grace and increase in the workings of your power in my life. The knowledge of your Word causes me to walk in an overflow of grace, and that grace produces favour, beauty, goodwill, loveliness, perfections, glory and ability in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

WE ONLY GET STRONGER

“And Moses was un hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated” (Deuteronomy 34:7).

Have you ever heard the word “agelessness”? It is part of our heritage in Christ. We grow, but we do not age! Hallelujah! So never say, “You know, I am no longer as strong as I used to be; age is not my side.” As a Christian, you should not talk like that because when you were born again, eternal life was imparted to your spirit. Eternal life is life with agelessness.

In Christ, you have been brought into His glory and the glorified life. So, every so often, declare to yourself, “I only get stronger! I am stronger today than I was ten years ago!” Consider Moses: at one hundred and twenty years of age, his physical stature was not abated, his eyes were not dim. Yet, the Bible says the glory that Moses had is not anything compared to what we have today in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:7-11).

It was the same with Caleb: At the age of eighty-five, Caleb said, “I am as strong today as I was when I was forty; therefore, give me this mountain” (read Joshua 14:7-12). That is our story! Our youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:5). For us, there is only one way: we get stronger and stronger, greater and greater, we move upward and forward. Hallelujah!

Never see yourself as weak. The Bible says, “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man in renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16). We are continually strengthened), invigorated from within by the Holy Ghost. Take these thoughts that I share with you seriously and live the supernatural life in Christ. Praise God!

CONFESSION

The Lord is the strength of my life and He constantly renews, refreshes and rejuvenates me through the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit! I am stronger by the day, stronger today than ever, because my inward man in renewed day by day; I live in the ageless zone. Glory to God!

9. And Moses ware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon they feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.

10. And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

PASTOR CHRIS

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25TH.

LOVE LIKE CHRIST

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8 NIV).

If someone does something that upsets or offends you, rather than become bitter or enraged, let it go. Jesus showed us a good example of how to walk in love. He loved everyone, including His accusers and persecutors. Then He tells us in Matthew 5:44, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

Emulate the Master. Have the love language and culture. Love everyone unconditionally. The Bible says, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously” (1 Peter 2:21-23).

Someone once asked, “In the case where the people you respect are those that hurt you, what should you do?” Honour them nonetheless. Love them. Grow out of that place where you can still be hurt. Live in God’s Word. Live like Christ and love like Him: “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour” (Ephesians 5:1-2).

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 AMPC says, “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]….”

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the love of Christ which is the bond of perfection and which rules my heart always. I lavishly express your love-nature and radiate the beauty and glories of heaven to my world. Always, I rise above offences, being accommodating and kind; I cover others with the umbrella of your love that flows lavishly from the castle of my heart, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Colossians 3:12-14 GNB

12. You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

13 Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you.

14 And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity.

John 13:34-35

34. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

CALLED TO LEAD

TUESDAY, MAY 24TH 2022

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).

In our bid to evangelize the world, we must fully understand activism, advocacy and real leadership. Jesus said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations….” It means we’re to make pupils of the nations. The word “nations” is from the Greek “Ethnos.” Ethnos refers to different groups with some common factors that bring them together. For example, a family, a group of politicians, an association of doctors, etc.

So, when Jesus used the term “nations” you could interpret it as countries, families, groups, professional bodies, and so on. The Lord instructs that we go into all such places and lead. Remember, He said in Matthew 5:14, “Ye are the light of the world….” You’re a leader in your world. Take up your role as a protagonist.

A protagonist is an advocate or champion of a particular cause or idea. One of the ways a protagonist works is through innovation. You open your mind and find new ways of getting in and getting ahead with the Gospel. As a protagonist, develop more cutting-edge means and strategies for the advancement of the Kingdom.

Always think about how you can reach more people or a whole “nation” for the Lord. Then, come up, by the Spirit, with innovative ideas to accomplish it. Remember, you’re the Lord’s voice where you are. He sent you into that world so you could show others how to live the Kingdom-life. You’re there to make a difference! Create new opportunities for the spread of the Gospel.

PRAYER

Dear Father, my mind is replete with supernatural ideas and strategies to push the Gospel to the ends of the earth. I pray for open and effectual doors for expansion and increased influence of the Gospel in different “ethnos”; I declare your righteousness will continue to dominate and prevail in the earth until the coming of the Lord, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
