OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Stake Presidency of the Copperbelt Stake has announced leadership changes within the stake and the Ndola Ward.

Brother Matthew Chishimba has been called to serve as a Stake Patriarch. We express our gratitude for his willingness to accept this sacred calling and are confident that his service will bless individuals and families throughout the stake.

The Ndola Ward has also been reorganized with the following bishopric:

Bishop: Brother Philip Chishimba Kapalu

First Counselor: Brother Webster Sichilongo

Second Counselor: Brother Lerix Mulunda Mulenga

We congratulate these brethren and their families as they accept these sacred responsibilities. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all those who have previously served in these callings for their faithful and dedicated service.

As members of the Church, we are invited to sustain and support these leaders as they minister to the Saints, strengthen faith in Jesus Christ, and further the work of salvation within the Copperbelt Stake.

Yesterday, family, friends, Church leaders, missionaries, and members gathered to lay Elder Mununga to rest and celebrate a life of faith, service, and discipleship.

These photos from the burial service capture moments of love, respect, and gratitude as we honored his memory and legacy.

We continue to pray for and remember the Mununga family, finding comfort in the Savior's promise of the Resurrection and eternal life.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR ELDER DAMIEN MUNUNGA

The Copperbelt Stake Presidency and the Zambia Lusaka Mission Presidency wish to provide the following information regarding the funeral services for Elder Damien Mununga.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, at 10:00 hours at the Lusaka Stake Centre. The service will be presided over by Elder Mathemera, Area Seventy.

Elder Mununga is currently resting at FSG Funeral Home, Lusaka. Family members and Church leaders will gather at the funeral home at 09:00 hours before proceeding to the Lusaka Stake Centre for the funeral service.

We express our gratitude to members, friends, and leaders who have ministered to and supported the Mununga family during this difficult time. We invite all who are able to attend to join us as we honor Elder Mununga's faithful life and service and extend our love and support to his family.

May the Lord's peace and comfort continue to rest upon the Mununga family and all who mourn his passing.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE PASSING OF ELDER DAMIEN MUNUNGA

It is with deep sorrow that the Copperbelt Stake Presidency and the Zambia Lusaka Mission Presidency announce the passing of Elder Damien Mununga, a full-time missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Elder Demian Mununga, a member of the Bulangililo Branch, was serving in the Twapia Ward of the Zambia Lusaka Mission at the time of his passing. He passed away on the evening of 13 June 2026.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, relatives, friends, fellow missionaries, and all who have been touched by his faithful service. During this difficult time, we pray that they may be comforted by the peace and strength that come through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

As members of the Church, we find hope in the restored gospel and in the promise of the Resurrection. We are grateful for Elder Mununga's devoted service and his willingness to answer the call to serve the Lord.

We invite members and friends of the Church to keep the Mununga family in their prayers as they navigate this period of loss and mourning.

Information regarding funeral and memorial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

ELDER MWALE DEPARTS TO SERVE IN THE BENIN COTONOU MISSION

The Stake Presidency is pleased to announce that Elder Mwale of Ndeke Branch has departed to begin his missionary service in the Benin Cotonou Mission.

Having accepted the call to serve as a representative of Jesus Christ, Elder Mwale now embarks on a sacred assignment to preach the restored gospel, strengthen faith in Jesus Christ, and serve the people of Benin with love and dedication.

We express our gratitude for his willingness to serve and commend his family, friends, and leaders who have supported him in preparing for this important responsibility. We invite all members of the Stake to remember Elder Mwale in their prayers as he begins his missionary service.

We are confident that through his faithfulness and commitment, he will be an instrument in the hands of the Lord and a blessing to many.

We wish Elder Mwale every success as he serves in the Benin Cotonou Mission.

Yesterday, the Copperbelt Stake Presidency continued strengthening the work of the Lord through additional inspired leadership callings across the Stake.

We extend our love and support to these faithful servants as they magnify their new responsibilities in the kingdom of God.

1️⃣ Copperbelt Stake Relief Society Presidency

Sister Lydia Mutenyo Silavwe has been called as the new Relief Society President. She will serve alongside:

• Sister Jessy Daka – First Counselor
• Sister Charity Chanda Chishimba – Second Counselor
• Sister Martha Mukosa – Secretary

Sister Silavwe brings experience, compassion, and dedication to the sacred work of strengthening sisters and families throughout the Stake.

2️⃣ Copperbelt Stake Primary Presidency

Sister Charity Chishimba Bwalya Kapalu has been called as the new Primary President. She will serve with:

• Sister Agatha Phiri – First Counselor
• Sister Katai Nanyangwe Chimfwembe – Second Counselor
• Sister Mirriam Gondwe – Secretary

The Primary organization remains central in helping children come unto Christ, and we are grateful for these sisters who have accepted the call to lead and nurture the rising generation.

3️⃣ Copperbelt Stake Missionary Coordination

Sister Luniya Mutono has been called as the Copperbelt Stake Missionary Coordinator.

This calling plays an important role in strengthening missionary efforts, member participation, and support for the gathering of Israel across the Stake.

We congratulate all those who were called and sustained. May the Lord continue to guide them as they serve with faith, humility, and devotion.

Stake Presidency Announces New Young Women Leadership

The Stake Presidency has announced the following changes within the Stake Young Women organization:

1️⃣ Sister Silvia Mofya Nkandu has been called to serve as the Stake Young Women President.

2️⃣ Sister Cecilia Phiri Chishinji has been called to serve as First Counselor in the Stake Young Women Presidency.

3️⃣ Sister Memory Thole has been called to serve as Second Counselor in the Stake Young Women Presidency.

4️⃣ Sister Joyce Mumba has been called to serve as Secretary in the Stake Young Women organization.

We congratulate these sisters on their new callings and pray that the Lord will continue to guide and strengthen them as they serve the young women across the stake.
