FR. FRANCIS MWANSA MUFWAYA: A TRUE CHRISTIAN IS A DAILY CHOICE

Fr. Francis Mwansa Mufwaya has reminded us that following Christ is a _daily_ decision.

3 Ways to Walk It Out:
1. *Deny yourself* – _Luke 9:23_ – Put God’s will above our impulses
2. *Say no to evil* – _Titus 2:11-12_ – Live self-controlled and upright
3. *Renew the mind* – _Romans 12:2_ – Be transformed, not conformed

It’s not about being perfect in one day.
It’s about repentance, prayer, the Word, and letting the Holy Spirit guide us.

May God give us grace to choose Him daily.

“The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God; the spiritual man judges all things.”
*A reading from the Letters of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (1 CORINTHIANS 2: 10b - 16)*
Brethren: The Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

REV FR FRANCIS MWANSA MUFWAYA CALLS FOR SELF-DENIAL AND TRUE CHRISTIAN LIVING

KAWAMA PARISH - 30TH, AUGUST 2026.

Rev Fr Francis Mwansa Mufwaya has called on Christians to practice self-control, self-denial, and live according to the will of God rather than simply claiming that Zambia is a Christian nation.

Rev Fr Mufwaya said the Word of God reminds Christians to exercise self-control, particularly when dealing with things that may be good in their lives, and to put God's will above their personal desires.

He said Christians should allow their conduct, values, and treatment of others to demonstrate that Zambia is a Christian nation instead of merely making the declaration themselves.

“Let other nations tell us that Zambia is a Christian nation—not us as Zambians. Let the way we live, the way we treat others and the values we uphold speak for itself,” he said.

Rev Fr Mufwaya further urged Christians not to change themselves simply because of what is trending in society, but to remain faithful to God's teachings, citing the prophet Jeremiah as an example of someone who remained faithful to God's calling.

He also called on priests and pastors not to favour politicians, regardless of whether they belong to the ruling party or the opposition.

The clergyman urged religious leaders to speak the truth without fear or favour and remain faithful to their calling to promote justice, truth, and righteousness.

He said politicians should not pressure priests or pastors to abandon their religious responsibilities simply because they have spoken on matters affecting society.

Rev Fr Mufwaya also condemned the loss of respect for the dead in the name of politics, saying people accused of committing crimes should be taken to court to face the law rather than having citizens take the law into their own hands.

He urged Zambians to protect their honour and dignity by avoiding actions that bring shame and instead pursue things that promote true honour and respect.

“If we truly want to be Christians, let the Spirit of God dwell in us. Let us carry the cross of Jesus Christ, knowing that whatever suffering we experience for doing what is right is only for a short time compared with the eternal reward,” he said.

Turning to the youths, Rev Fr Mufwaya encouraged them to take education seriously and sacrifice their time today for the betterment of their future.

He said young people who choose to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ should not be discouraged when society laughs at or criticises them for being different.

He reminded Christians that many of the people regarded as Saints today were once considered foolish or rejected by the world because of their faith and commitment to God's will.

Rev Fr Mufwaya, therefore, urged Christians to choose God's way even when it is unpopular.

Live for Christ. Stand for truth. Practice self-denial. Let your life speak louder than your words.
