Text: Psalm 144:1–15
Title: BLESSED ARE THEY WHOSE YAHWEH IS THEIR GOD

‼️OCCASION‼️
- Sunday Worship Service
- Theme of the Year 2026: Participating in God's Mission
- Sub-theme: Faithful Messengers

↪️INTRODUCTION:
- Psalm 144 is a prayer and song of David that celebrates God as the source of strength, protection, victory, provision, and blessing.
- David recognizes that human strength and achievements are not enough; true security and blessing come from the Lord.
- The Psalm concludes with a powerful declaration: “Happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” (Psalm 144:15)
- To be blessed is therefore not merely to possess material things, but to have the LORD as our God.
- The greatest blessing is not what we have in our hands, but Who we have in our lives.

⤴️BRIEF BACKGROUND:
- Author: David.
- Context: A prayer of dependence upon God in the midst of life's battles and challenges.
- Theme: David acknowledges God as his strength, protector, deliverer, and provider.
- Big Idea: Those who make the LORD their God are truly blessed because their lives are founded upon God's strength, protection, and provision.

(1️⃣) BLESSED ARE THEY WHOSE STRENGTH IS THE LORD Vs. 1-2
- David begins by recognizing God as his strength, rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, and refuge.
- David does not take credit for his victories; he acknowledges that his strength comes from God.
- The believer's greatest confidence should not be in human ability, wealth, position, or connections, but in the LORD.
- When the LORD is our God, we have somewhere to run when life becomes difficult.
📍Lesson:
~ Blessed are those who depend on God rather than depending entirely on themselves.
~ The LORD gives strength when our own strength is insufficient.
~ Faithful messengers must serve God's mission in God's strength.
~ Our confidence must be in the LORD who fights our battles and sustains us.

(2️⃣) BLESSED ARE THEY WHOSE YAHWEH IS THEIR DELIVERER Vs. 5-10
- David calls upon God to intervene, rescue, and deliver him from his enemies.
- He recognizes that only God can ultimately deliver His people.
- Life can bring storms, opposition, disappointments, and battles, but God's people are never without hope.
- The God who delivered David is still the God who delivers His people today.
📍Lesson:
~ When the LORD is your God, you do not face your battles alone.
~ God is our refuge when circumstances become difficult.
~ Do not allow challenges to make you abandon your faith in God.
~ Faithful messengers continue serving even in difficult circumstances because their trust is in the LORD.

(3️⃣) BLESSED ARE THEY WHOSE YAHWEH IS THEIR PROVIDER Vs. 12-15
- David describes a people enjoying God's blessings: healthy families, productive fields, abundant harvests, secure communities, and peace.
- These blessings are ultimately recognized as coming from God.
- The Psalm reaches its climax in verse 15: “Happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.”
- The greatest blessing is therefore not the abundance itself, but the God who provides the abundance.
📍Lesson:
~ We must never allow God's blessings to make us forget the God who blesses us.
~ Everything we have ultimately comes from God.
~ True prosperity is not merely having possessions; it is having God at the centre of our lives.
~ A blessed person should become a blessing to others and participate faithfully in God's mission.

✝️APPLICATION:
1. Make the Lord the centre of your life and not merely a part of your life.
2. Trust God's strength when your own strength is failing.
3. Depend on God in times of battles, challenges, and uncertainty.
4. Appreciate God's blessings without allowing the blessings to replace the Blesser.
5. Use whatever God has entrusted to you to bless others and advance His Kingdom

📌 CONCLUSION:
- Psalm 144 teaches us that true blessedness is found in having the LORD as our God.
- God is our strength, our deliverer, and our provider.
- Therefore, our greatest testimony should not simply be, “Look at what God has given me,” but “Look at who God is to me.”
- You may lose possessions and still be blessed.
- You may pass through difficult seasons and still be blessed.
- You may not have everything you want and still be blessed.
- If the LORD is your God, you have the greatest blessing.
⁉️THE QUESTION IS:
- Is the LORD truly your God, or are you only interested in what He can give you?

Resident Minister

‼️MISSION IN ACTION‼️
In our efforts to achieve a conducive church environment for worship services and other meetings, we continue to beautify our church premises by building.
This week, we are working on the office block, constructing the canopy foundation. What remains is burying it, then fixing the slab on it, and later roofing it.
At the same time, we continue with the Ablution Block works as well as the church building renovations.

Text: Matthew 25:14–30
Title: A FAITHFUL MESSENGER IS A FAITHFUL STEWARD

‼️OCCASION‼️
- Sunday Worship Service
- Theme of the Year 2026: Participating in God's Mission
- Sub-theme: Faithful Messengers

↪️INTRODUCTION:
- Every faithful messenger is called to faithful stewardship.
- God has entrusted every believer with gifts, abilities, opportunities, time, and resources to be used for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom.
- In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus teaches that God expects His servants to faithfully manage what has been entrusted to them until He returns.
- A faithful messenger understands that stewardship is not about how much one has, but about being faithful with what God has entrusted.

⤴️BRIEF BACKGROUND:
- Time: During Jesus' final teachings before His crucifixion.
- Place: The Mount of Olives, overlooking Jerusalem.
- Context: Jesus taught this parable to prepare His disciples for His return, emphasizing faithful service while awaiting His coming.
- Big Idea: Faithful messengers diligently steward God's gifts and resources, knowing they will one day give an account to Him.

(1️⃣) GOD ENTRUSTS EVERY BELIEVER WITH RESOURCES Vs. 14–15
- The master entrusted his servants with talents according to their abilities before leaving on a journey.
- Likewise, God entrusts every believer with spiritual gifts, abilities, opportunities, time, and material resources.
- No believer has been left empty-handed.
📍Lesson:
~ God has entrusted each of us with something valuable.
~ Our gifts and abilities are given to serve God's mission.
~ Faithful messengers recognise that what they have is a trust from God, not personal ownership.

(2️⃣) FAITHFULNESS IS MEASURED BY STEWARDSHIP Vs. 16–23
- The first two servants faithfully invested what had been entrusted to them.
- Their master rewarded them, not because they had equal amounts, but because they had been faithful.
- God rewards faithfulness, not comparison.
📍Lesson:
~ God expects faithfulness rather than success by worldly standards.
~ Faithful messengers use their gifts and opportunities for God's Kingdom.
~ Every act of faithful service pleases the Lord.

(3️⃣) UNFAITHFULNESS HAS CONSEQUENCES Vs. 24–30
- The third servant buried his talent out of fear and offered excuses instead of faithful service.
- His negligence resulted in rebuke and loss of responsibility.
- God expects His servants to be productive with what He has entrusted to them.
📍Lesson:
~ Fear and excuses hinder participation in God's mission.
~ Neglecting God's gifts dishonours the One who entrusted them.
~ Faithful stewardship requires courage, diligence, and obedience.

✝️APPLICATION:
1. Identify the gifts, talents, and opportunities God has entrusted to you.
2. Use your resources faithfully for the advancement of God's Kingdom.
3. Avoid comparison and focus on being faithful where God has placed you.
4. Reject fear and excuses that hinder faithful service.
5. Live each day knowing you will one day give an account to God.

📌 CONCLUSION:
- God has entrusted every believer with gifts and resources for His mission.
- A faithful messenger is not recognised by how much he or she possesses but by faithful stewardship of what God has entrusted.
- One day the Lord will return and reward those who have faithfully served Him.
- May we all hear His words: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
⁉️THE QUESTION IS: If the Lord were to return today, would He find you faithfully stewarding what He entrusted to you?
