Text:* EZEKIEL 37:1-14
• Sermon Title: HOPE IN THE VALLEY
Theme/ life changing truth: God can bring life, hope, and restoration to any hopeless situation.

BACKGROUND:
Why was Ezekiel in the valley?
When: Around 597-586 BC.
Who: Ezekiel was a priest and prophet. He was taken from Jerusalem to Babylon as a prisoner when King Nebuchadnezzar attacked.
What was happening: Israel had disobeyed God for years. God allowed Babylon to destroy Jerusalem and take the people into exile. The people felt dead. They said, “Our bones are dried up, our hope is lost, we are cut off” - Ezekiel 37:11.
*THE PROBLEM:*
The people of Israel felt like dry bones. No life. No future. No nation. They thought God had left them.
*GOD'S MESSAGE:*
God took Ezekiel to a valley full of very dry bones to show him that nothing is too dead for God to bring back to life.
*SPIRITUAL MEANING:*
God meets us in our lowest valleys. You don’t have to climb a mountain for God to speak. He comes to the place of death.

*POINT 1:*
God sees the hopeless situation – v.1-3
“Son of man, can these bones live?”
*EXPLANATION:*
God brought Ezekiel to see the bones. They were “very many” and “very dry” - v.2. This means totally dead, no hope. God asked Ezekiel a question that had no human answer.
Ezekiel was wise. He said, “O Lord God, You know” - v.3.
*PRACTICAL ILLUSTRATION:*
A farmer sees a field after years of drought. The ground is cracked. All plants are dead. His neighbors say, “Nothing will grow here again.” But the farmer says, “Only God knows.”
*APPLICATION:*
What is your “valley of dry bones”? A dead marriage? A church with no members? A child who left God? A sickness with no cure? God sees it. He is not blind. And He asks you today, “Can this live?”

*POINT 2:*
God’s Word brings life to dead things – v.4-8*
_“Prophesy to these bones… O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!”_
*EXPLANATION:*
God did not tell Ezekiel to fight the bones or fix them. He said, “Speak My word to them.” When Ezekiel obeyed, there was noise, shaking, bones came together, flesh came on them - v.7-8. But there was still no breath.
*PRACTICAL ILLUSTRATION:*
Think of a car with no fuel. It has wheels, engine, seats. It looks like a car. But without fuel, it cannot move. The bones had a body but no life.
Many churches and people are like that. We have programs, buildings, songs, but no life. We need the Word of God first.
*APPLICATION:*
Stop trying to fix your dead situation with human ideas. Speak God’s Word over it. Read the Bible out loud in your home. Preach the Word in your church. The Word puts things together.

*POINT 3:*
God’s Spirit makes us truly alive – v.9-10*
_“Prophesy to the breath… Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain.”_
*EXPLANATION:*
The bones needed breath/spirit. Hebrew word “ruach” means breath, wind, and Spirit. When Ezekiel spoke, the Spirit came and the bodies stood up - v.10. A very great army.
*PRACTICAL ILLUSTRATION:*
A drum looks good, but if no one beats it, there is no sound. The Spirit is the One who beats the drum of our hearts.
*APPLICATION:*
We need more than good structure. We need the Holy Spirit. Pray, “Holy Spirit, breathe on me. Breathe on my family. Breathe on Zambia.” Without Him we are just dry bones with skin.

*POINT 4:*
God’s promise is restoration – v.11-14
“I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land.”
*EXPLANATION:*
God explained the vision. The bones = the whole house of Israel. They felt cut off. But God promised: “I will open your graves and bring you up.” God promised to bring them home and put His Spirit in them.
*APPLICATION:*
God’s plan is not just to make you survive. His plan is to restore you, fill you with His Spirit, and put you back in your place of purpose. Your grave is not the end.

CALL TO ACTION
1. *Admit your valley.* Tell God where you feel dry and dead today.
2. *Speak God’s Word.* Find a promise in the Bible for your situation and say it out loud.
3. *Ask for the Holy Spirit.* Luke 11:13 – “How much more will your Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
4. *Believe God for restoration.* Your bones will live again.

CONDOLENCE STATEMENT

THE REFORMED CHURCH IN ZAMBIA MOURNS THE PASSING OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PARAMOUNT CHIEF MPEZENI IV

The RCZ joins the nation in mourning His royal highness, Ngwenyama Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV who passed away on 30th May 2026. We are deeply saddened by his passing and therefore stand in solidarity with the Ngoni Royal Family and Royal Establishment. His loss is deeply felt as his leadership, wisdom, and devotion to his people touched countless lives, even beyond his chiefdom.

The RCZ is profoundly saddened with the passing of Ngwenyama IV because its history is deeply intertwined with the Ngoni Chiefdom. Chief Mpezeni, in 1899, invited and welcomed Dutch missionaries from the then Orange Free State in South Africa to establish mission work in his chiefdom. As a result, the first congregation was founded at Magwero, Chipata, on 5th July 1899. From that time to the present, successive chiefs, including Ngwenyama IV who was installed on 19th June 1982 at Ephendukeni Palace and reigned for 44 years (1982–2026), have been instrumental in supporting the growth of the RCZ within their chiefdoms. Consequently, many RCZ congregations are firmly established across the Ngoni Chiefdom, making use of traditional land both as sacred ground for worship and as a vital resource for economic sustenance.

The reign of Ngwenyama IV was marked by cultural preservation, community-focused development, and national recognition. His leadership, vision, and commitment to progress will be greatly missed not only by the Ngoni people but by the entire nation of Zambia. His legacy of fostering unity, progress, and faith will continue to inspire generations.

The Reformed Church in Zambia offers prayers for strength, consolation, and comfort for the Royal Family, the Ngoni Royal Establishment, and the people of Zambia during this difficult time. Indeed, the great tree has fallen.

May his soul rest in eternal peace

Text: ACTS 6:1–7
Title: OUTCOMES OF NOT GETTING INVOLVED

🤟🏽Special Occasion:
- Buy a Block Fundraising venture
- And Big Sunday

↪️ INTRODUCTION:
- The work of God requires the involvement and participation of every believer.
- In Acts 6, the early Church experienced growth, but challenges also arose because the responsibilities became too much for a few people to handle alone.
- The apostles recognized that the ministry could not move effectively without collective participation from the believers.
- This passage teaches us that when people fail to get involved, the work suffers, progress slows down, and opportunities are missed.
- God desires His people to work together faithfully for the advancement of His mission.

⤴️ BRIEF BACKGROUND:
- Time: During the rapid growth of the early Church after Pentecost.
- Place: Jerusalem.
- Issue: Complaints arose concerning the daily distribution of food because the apostles alone could not manage all the responsibilities.
- The apostles appointed additional servants to assist in ministry so that the work of God could continue effectively.
- Big Idea: God’s work progresses effectively when everyone becomes actively involved.

(1️⃣) FAILURE TO GET INVOLVED CREATES WORK OVERLOAD ON THE AVAILABLE FEW (Acts 6:1–2)
- The apostles became overwhelmed because the responsibilities were increasing while only a few people were carrying the burden.
- Important matters began to suffer because there were not enough workers to meet the growing needs.
📍 Lesson;
~ God never intended His work to depend on only a few individuals.
~ When people refuse to participate, faithful workers become discouraged and exhausted.
~ Lack of involvement slows down progress in the ministry and in the work of God.

(2️⃣) FAILURE TO GET INVOLVED LEADS TO STAGNATION AND MISSED OPPORTUNITIES (Acts 6:3–4)
- The Church responded wisely by appointing additional people to serve in ministry.
- Once more people became involved, the apostles were able to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word.
📍 Lesson;
~ Progress becomes visible when everyone participates.
~ Opportunities are often missed when people delay supporting the work of God.
~ Unity and participation create effectiveness and growth in ministry.

(3️⃣) FAILURE TO GET INVOLVED CAN BECOME A FORM OF DISHONORING GOD (Acts 6:5–7)
- After the believers worked together, the Word of God spread rapidly and the number of disciples increased greatly.
- God was glorified through their collective commitment and service.
📍 Lesson;
~ True commitment to God is demonstrated through action and participation.
~ It is not enough to speak about supporting God’s work without practical involvement.
~ God is honored when His people faithfully contribute toward His mission.
~ Faithfulness in serving God always produces spiritual growth and blessings.

✝️ APPLICATION:
1. Get involved because participation makes the work of God move faster.
2. Use your resources, time, abilities, and support for the advancement of God’s mission.
3. Remember that every contribution matters, no matter how small it may seem.
4. Work together in unity so that visible progress may be achieved.
5. Trust that God blesses faithful and committed servants who support His work wholeheartedly.

📌 CONCLUSION:
- The early Church grew because believers chose to participate together in the work of God.
- When everyone becomes involved, burdens become lighter, progress becomes visible, and opportunities are utilized effectively.
- God does not call us to be spectators, but active participants in His mission.
- As we gather for this Buy a Block Fundraising Venture, may each one of us respond willingly and faithfully toward the work of God.
- The question is; Are you actively participating in the work of God, or are you leaving the burden to only a few people?

THREE PROJECTS, ONE MISSION
Church building renovations and maintenance works are progressing well. We are currently fixing the electrical sockets inside the building.

Support us in the “Buy a Block” fundraising venture, which is scheduled for 31 May 2026, as we are also constructing a modern ablution block and an office/kitchen block. We are currently running three major projects at the same time.

Pentecost Sunday – 24 May, 2026

Text: ACTS 2:14–41
Title: THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO BE WITNESSES FOR CHRIST

↪️ INTRODUCTION:
- Pentecost Sunday commemorates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Church.
- The coming of the Holy Spirit marked the birth of the New Testament Church and the beginning of its worldwide mission.
- Through the power of the Holy Spirit, fearful disciples became bold witnesses for Jesus Christ.
- This passage reminds us that God has not only called us to be His witnesses, but He has also empowered us through the Holy Spirit to fulfill that calling.

⤴️ BRIEF BACKGROUND:
- Time: The Day of Pentecost, fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Place: Jerusalem.
- Context: The Holy Spirit had just been poured out upon the disciples, and Peter stood before the crowd to explain what had happened.
- Big Idea: The Holy Spirit empowers believers to proclaim Christ and lead others to salvation.

(1️⃣) THE HOLY SPIRIT FULFILLS GOD'S PROMISE AND EMPOWERS HIS PEOPLE (Acts 2:14–21)
- Peter explained that the events of Pentecost were the fulfillment of God's promise through the prophet Joel.
- The coming of the Holy Spirit was evidence that God was accomplishing His redemptive plan.
📍 Lesson;
~ God is faithful to fulfill every promise He makes.
~ The Holy Spirit equips believers for ministry and service.
~ Effective Christian witness begins with dependence upon the Holy Spirit and not human ability.

(2️⃣) THE HOLY SPIRIT ENABLES US TO PROCLAIM JESUS CHRIST BOLDLY (Acts 2:22–36)
- Peter's sermon was centered on Jesus Christ; His life, death, resurrection, and exaltation.
- He boldly declared that Jesus is both Lord and Christ.
- Rather than drawing attention to himself, Peter pointed everyone to Christ.
📍 Lesson;
~ The central message of the Church must always be Jesus Christ.
~ The Holy Spirit empowers us to speak the truth even in difficult circumstances.
~ Our mission is not to promote ourselves but to exalt Christ before the world.

(3️⃣) THE HOLY SPIRIT SENDS US TO BE WITNESSES WHO CALL OTHERS TO CHRIST (Acts 2:37–41)
- After hearing Peter's message, the people were convicted and asked, "What shall we do?"
- Peter called them to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
- About three thousand people responded and were added to the Church.
📍 Lesson;
~ Every believer has a responsibility to share the Gospel.
~ Witnessing involves calling people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
~ God uses ordinary believers who faithfully proclaim His message.
~ While we share the Gospel, the Holy Spirit is the One who convicts and transforms hearts.

✝️ APPLICATION:
1. Depend daily on the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
2. Keep Jesus Christ at the center of your message and ministry.
3. Be intentional about sharing the Gospel with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
4. Trust the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those who hear the message.
5. Live a life that reflects Christ so that your witness is both spoken and demonstrated.

📌 CONCLUSION:
- Pentecost reminds us that God has fulfilled His promise by giving His Holy Spirit to the Church.
- The same Spirit who empowered Peter and the early believers continues to empower God's people today.
- Through the Holy Spirit, we are equipped to proclaim Christ boldly and faithfully.
- As believers, we are called not merely to receive the Spirit's blessings but to participate in God's mission as witnesses of Jesus Christ.
- The question is; Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you to be an effective witness for Christ in your generation?
