Rose explains:

"We are so grateful for the support that we have received from the people of Scotland because that support and their contribution has saved lives here in Zambia. We have seen people grow from having just three meals in a week to having three meals in a day."

The Caritas Kabwe Kumena Project has emerged as a beacon of hope in Central Province of Zambia . Our project participants have faced substantial setbacks as a result of the tremendous challenges posed by climate change.

As a result, our participants have deliberately shifted their focus toward mushroom farming as a source of revenue and poverty reduction. Mushrooms are an environmentally viable alternative to conventional crops since they use less land and create less greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, they provide a consistent source of cash for farmers, increasing economic resilience and minimizing reliance on specific crops that are vulnerable to climate change.

This collaborative initiative to promote diverse agriculture demonstrates our commitment to helping communities to adapt to environmental challenges while building long-term livelihoods.

The knowledge of indigenous people frequently includes long-standing methods for coexisting peacefully with the environment. Small-scale communities may benefit greatly from this knowledge since it provides sustainable methods for land stewardship, agriculture, and resource management. Communities may support environmental sustainability and climate change resistance by embracing Indigenous traditions.

By 2050, it is expected that the world population will have increased by 32%, necessitating the provision of food and clothes while avoiding irreparable harm to ecosystems.

Population expansion, climate change, and a scarcity of land and water supplies will all put agricultural sustainability at risk.

Caritas Kabwe understands the significance of environmental protection and pushes for long-term solutions to maintain our common HOME (ecology). The community may benefit from encouraging sustainable organic farming in a variety of ways, including increased food quality and security, better nutrition, and the development of healthier farmers and communities. This strategy is consistent with our objective of ensuring a sustainable future for all.

We are nearing the end of our sustainable organic farming training with farmers under Loss and Damage program.

This has been an excellent opportunity to share knowledge about organic farming practices such as soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity.

These measures help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote carbon absorption in the soil. Farmers that receive sustainable organic farming training can adapt to changing climatic circumstances, increasing their ability to survive catastrophic weather events such as floods and droughts.

This adaptability mitigates the potential losses and damage caused by climate change, resulting in a more sustainable and resilient agricultural system in the face of environmental difficulties.

The training of farmers in sustainable organic farming under the Loss and Damage program is going well.

This effort empowers farmers with resilient and environmentally beneficial techniques, thereby mitigating the effects of climate change on agriculture. They help to save the environment, minimize carbon footprints, and strengthen the overall resilience of farming communities by using sustainable methods.

Such training promotes food security, economic stability, and the retention of traditional agricultural expertise.

In response to LOSS and DAMAGE caused by climate change, the Caritas Kabwe team is on the ground to assist families who have witnessed the economic and non-economic repercussions of climate change.

The loss of biodiversity and infrastructure damage has a huge impact on human health, The concept recognizes that some impacts cannot be fully mitigated or adapted to, resulting in irreversible consequences; however, Caritas Kabwe's support and the implementation of a social cash transfer program, trainings,Empowering communities with livestock and improving School/Clinic/bridge infrastructure will go a long way toward assisting vulnerable people most importantly the disabled.
