BISHOP LUNGU ANNOUNCES DAILY MASSES FOR LATE PARAMOUNT CHIEF MPEZENI IV

The Catholic Diocese of Chipata Bishop, George Cosmas Zumaire Lungu, has announced that Holy Mass will be celebrated daily at Ephendukeni Palace until the burial of Inkhosi ya Makhosi Mpezeni IV.

Speaking during his visit to the palace today, shortly after signing the book of condolences, Bishop Lungu said the daily Masses are intended to pray for the repose of the soul of the late Ngoni King and to offer spiritual comfort to the royal family and all mourners.

Meanwhile, the Ngoni Royal Establishment revealed that Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV was a baptized Catholic and expressed their wish for him to be accorded a Christian funeral and be laid to rest by the Church.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🙏

George Lungu has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Paramount Chief Mpezeni, describing him as a respected traditional leader who dedicated his life to serving his people and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ngoni Kingdom.

The Bishop conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Ngoni people, and the nation at large, praying that God grants eternal rest to the late Paramount Chief and comfort to all who mourn his passing. 🙏🕊️

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Patricia Banda, a devoted and committed member of St. George Parish. She faithfully served the Church in various capacities and was dedicated to the work of God and the growth of the parish community. 😭💔

Her unwavering faith, dedication and service will always be remembered by all who knew her.

The St. Anne's Cathedral Parish Youth joins the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique in mourning the passing of Inkosi ya Makosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni.
