CHINGOLA EAST MISSION DISTRICT
Date: 19th February, 2026

A church funeral service was held for Brother Nguni Maston Jeremiah Mwenela, who passed away at the age of 79. The service took place at Matelo Congregation and was officiated by Pastor Golden Mukonda, with Elder Munasha Patrick serving as interpreter.

The program began with the singing of Local Hymn 310. The scripture readings were taken from Luke 2:25 and John 3, with the preacher emphasizing the importance of being born again as Christians. The sermon highlighted the distinction between physical and spiritual perception, encouraging attendees to seek spiritual enlightenment.

The service concluded with a closing prayer led by Elder Kabaso.

DORCAMO INDUCTION CEREMONY
8th February 2026

The service held at Chingola Central Congregation on 8th February 2026 was a powerful and uplifting experience, focusing on faith, leadership, and service. The event marked the induction of new Dorcas workers and the charge to Dorcas workers and Adventist Men Organization from the 3 districts under Northwestern Zambia Conference: Chingola East, Chingola Central, and Chingola North. The service began with an opening song, Local Hymn #81, led by Sr. Mukatasha Hellen, Chorister, followed by an opening prayer by Pastor Kababa Raymond. Pastor Manda introduced the Conference Leaders, and the Dorcas workers from Chingola East Mission District presented a special song, "The great work done by woman" (Luke 7:36). The main preacher, Pastor Lameck Musonda, delivered a powerful sermon, and the service concluded with a closing song, #79. Pastor Manda took the charge and passed it to the Dorcas workers and Adventist Men Organization from the 3 districts under Northwestern Zambia Conference. Gifts were presented to the new Dorcas workers from friends and spouses, symbolizing support and appreciation for their new roles.

Pastor Davis Ndonji, the Northwestern Zambia Conference Executive Secretary, encouraged the new Dorcas workers and highlighted the upcoming massive baptism under the theme; One Voice 27 Mission for all.

The vows were conducted by Sr. Violet Mwansa, while Florence Musonda led the pledge. Sr. Shire Chikwama handled the Dorcas uniform and AMO, and also gave a talk on the functions of a leader. Sr. Banda Elass discussed the roles of a Secretary, and Sr. Florence Musonda covered the roles of a Treasurer.

The attendance for the service was as follows:
- Chingola East Mission District had 312 old members and 30 new members, totaling 342 attendees.
- Chingola Central Mission District had 93 old members and 14 new members, totaling 107 attendees.
- Chingola North Mission District had 333 old members and 28 new members, totaling 361 attendees.
- In total, there were 738 old Dorcas workers present in support, and 72 new members were inducted as Dorcas workers, with 810 attendees from the Dorcas organization.
- The Adventist Men Organization (AMO) had 93 new members and 60 old members, totaling 153 members.
- The total attendance for both Dorcas and AMO was 963 members.

Pastor Elvis Sichiweza, the Host Pastor, gave the closing remarks and closed the program with a song, Local Hymn 136. The service was a moment of celebration and dedication, as 72 new members were inducted as Dorcas workers. The event was a testament to the commitment and dedication of the members of the 3 districts under Northwestern Zambia Conference.

LEADERSHIP SEMINAR AT KABUNDI CENTRAL CONGREGATION

Date: February 1, 2026
Location: Kabundi Central Congregation, Chingola East Mission District

A Leadership Seminar is currently underway at Kabundi Central Congregation, bringing together serving leaders from local churches in the Chingola East Mission District. The seminar started at 10:30hrs and is scheduled to run until 16:30hrs.

The event features lessons from various speakers, including:

- District Pastor Lameck Musonda, who is teaching on Administration, covering roles such as Eldership, Church Clerk, and other administration offices.
- Pastor Kapambwe Kalaba, who is leading a lesson for Sabbath school, Personal ministries, AMO, and Dorcas Society.
- An ADCOM member is also addressing other departments.

Representatives from the following 5 churches are participating in the seminar:

1. Kabundi Central Congregation
2. Nchanga Congregation
3. Matelo Congregation
4. Jacaranda Congregation
5. Kabundi North Congregation

The attendance is reported to be good, with 68 leaders in attendance so far.

The seminar is still ongoing, and participants are engaging with the lessons and activities.

THE CHINGOLA EAST MISSION DISTRICT WELL REPRESENTED ON A BIG SABBATH AT COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY

A spectacular and spiritually uplifting Sabbath was held at Copperbelt University in Kitwe, drawing an unprecedented multitude of people from far and wide.

The occasion was marked by a sense of anticipation and excitement, as attendees gathered to hear from distinguished guests and participate in a day of worship and fellowship. The event was privileged to have Dr. Harrington Hakombwa, President of the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID), as the special guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Hakombwa officially launched the theme "One Voice 27", a clarion call to unity and purpose that resoned deeply with the assembly. His inspiring message emphasized the importance of coming together as a community to achieve greatness πŸ™Œ. Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Minister of Copperbelt, Hon. Elisha Matambo, who brought words of encouragement and support from the government.

His presence underscored the significance of the event and the esteem in which the organizers are held. The Seedsowers Zambia, a renowned singing group, was among the special performers, lifting the spirits of the congregation with their soul-stirring music. The atmosphere was electric, with attendees responding in kind to the message of hope and redemption.

The event drew an overwhelming response, with attendance exceeding 6,990 people, a testament to the power of faith and Church. The Chingola East mission district was represented well through our singing group, the Seedsowers Zambia. The event was a resounding success, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to participate. As the congregation dispersed, there was a palpable sense of unity and purpose. Glory, glory indeed!

ELDER CHANDA JONATHAN BURIAL SESSION.

Today, January 1, 2026, marked a somber yet significant day for the Kitwe South Mission District as they gathered to bid farewell to Elder Jonathan Chanda, who passed away after a battle with cancer.

Despite being New Year's Day, the community came together to pay tribute to Elder Chanda's life and legacy. The service was held at Wusakile Secondary School Hall, with Pastor Hakashambatwa Enock leading the first prayer.

The event was well-attended, with people gathering to show their respect and condolences to the family. Pastor Kashimu, the District Pastor of Kitwe South Mission District, welcomed the mourners and introduced the executive and pastors present.

Elder Jonathan Chanda was remembered for his dedication to the church and community.

He served as an Elder to the church, a leader to the youths, a contractor, and a miner. He was also a devoted father of six children and was known for his exceptional organizational skills.

The church life history was shared by Elder Chola William, the church clerk at Wusakile Main SDA Church, while Elder Moses Mulenga also paid tribute to Elder Chanda's life and service. The service featured songs and messages, including a sermon by Pastor Mabyaki Daniel Chabala, the Copperbelt Conference President, who preached from Genesis 22:14.

The community's love and support for the Chanda family were evident in the large turnout and heartfelt tributes. May Elder Jonathan Chanda's legacy continue to inspire and guide the community, and may his family find comfort in the love and support of their church and friends.

In conclusion, Elder Chanda Jonathan according to his funeral procession, he is a Sermon himself.

Elder Chanda Jonathan was laid to rest at Nkana East Memorial Park cemetery.

The Northwestern Zambia Conference is on the move! The newly elected president of the NWZC - Pastor Kenneth Kakenge and his Executive Secretary Pastor Ndonji Davies officially launched the new Chingola North District, a testament to the region's growing faith community.

CHINGOLA NORTH DISTRICT CHURCHES WILL NOW INCLUDE:

Pastor Manda Gibson takes the helm as the new district pastor, leading this vibrant District and Pastor Laston Chanda has been relocated to Kasapa Mission District, bringing his experience and passion to his new role.

OTHER EXCITING CHANGES:

Pastor Musonda Lameck is now at the forefront of Chingola East Mission District, comprising the following Congregations

2. Matelo Congregation
3. Nchanga Congregation

The conference president drew inspiration from Acts 9:1-19, reminding us that transformation and growth are possible. These changes aim to strengthen our Districts and spread the Gospel.
