JOURNEY TO UNDERSTAND LAW AND GRACE RIGHT.
Do not live in Deception!!
Note that law is of two types in the Old Testament Books.
There is:
1. Moral law.
2. Ceremonial law.
The ceremonial law is the law of achieving righteousness by following ceremonial cleansing rituals of offerings, certain washings etc, in order to be accepted by God. This ceremonial law was as abolished by Jesus Christ by fulfilling it on our behalf by becoming our sin offering himself. ( Hebrews 9:1-28). Now We don't need to do all those ceremonies in order to be saved. We just believe in and accept Jesus Christ.
On the other hand the moral law is the 10 commandments. Moral law is the character or nature of God , His nature of love and righteousness. The 10 commandments describe Gods moral love and righteousness nature. If you want to see how moral love and righteousness ARE or IS in practice and manifestation, go and read the 10 commandments. You will have a clear picture of manifest love in practice.
Now , none of Gods nature or characteristics or attributes were changed from old to new covenant. God in the old covenant is still the same God in the new covenant, with same unchanged character and attributes. Because He is God, and He changes not ( Malachi 3:6). In the old covenant, God demanded people to manifest His moral character and nature of love and righteousness by stating the standard (moral law) and demanding people to measure UpTo it by their strength. The failure was dismal, leading to immediate death. In the new covenant, God now PUTS INSIDE OF US His nature of love and righteousness by the Holy Spirit who comes and dwells inside of us when we receive Jesus Christ.( Hebrews 8: 10-12). This is salvation by grace, and not by works. But, when one is saved, and has the Holy Spirit inside of them, they have the Spirit of love and righteousness inside of them, they have imputed nature of righteousness, and so, must then manifest OUTWARDLY in changed behavior, the love and righteous nature that now rules from inside of them. And the law of love and righteousness is simply the 10 commandments. So, Gentile believers, by accepting Jesus Christ and receiving imputed righteous nature of Christ, must manifest the same righteous nature of Christ. So, truly saved Gentiles must manifest or practice righteousness, which is simply the 10 commandments. If one says I have the righteousness of Jesus Christ, but is living in sin, such a one is a liar. A person with righteous nature INSIDE, must eventually manifest that righteousness OUTSIDE, in good works.
Jesus Christ said we shall know true prophets/ children of God by their fruits. He said it is impossible for a good tree to bear bad fruits, or for a bad tree to bear good fruit. Meaning if a person has righteous nature inside, the same manifests righteous behavior outside.( Matthew 12:33-35; Matthew 7:15-21). Apostle John said anyone who claims to be in Christ or having the imputed righteousness of Christ inside of them , must PRACTICE that righteousness outwardly. ( 1Jn 2:29; 1Jn 3:3-10. )
So, Gentile believers, like all other believers, are to practice and manifest love and righteousness, which is the unchanging nature and character of God, enshrined in the 10 commandments.
Salvation by grace does not only bring forgiveness of sins. Salvation by grace also
1. EMPOWERS us to resist sin and say NO to it, while MAKING us to be ZELOUS for GOOD WORKS. ( Titus 2: 11-14).
2. Brings a revolutionary change in our passions, desires and lusts. ( 1Peter 4:3-4).
3. Makes a NEW CREATION of the believer, with a completely new nature, new value system, moral character and behaviour. A completely new creature. Not a better version of the old person. But a NEW CREATION. ( 2Corinth 5:17; Galatians 6:15 )
So, Gentile believers who continue in sin, without any change, are most likely not saved in the first place. Because grace or Gods goodness and kindness empowers to repentance and righteous living. ( Romans 2:4).
