Rev Francis Ponde Missionary Endure Hardship
2 TIMOTHY 2:3 NKJ 3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

We are involved in a battle for the hearts and minds of people. Our enemy, the devil, has forces arrayed against us.

But our Lord Jesus has defeated the devil and stripped him of all authority. The Lord is our Helper and He has promised to never leave us. But Jesus never promised that we would never face opposition or persecution. In fact, He told us we would.

JOHN 16:33 NKJ 33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

2 TIMOTHY 3:12 NKJ 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

God is our Father and He is good. Therefore we can always expect good to come from Him.

But Scripture also alerts us to the fact that on earth we are in the midst of a struggle involving evil. While the ultimate victory of Love is assured, people are still making decisions which are not the best for all concerned. This can at times result in us facing persecution, trouble, or hardship.

People make bad decisions because they are in spiritual darkness. We are God's representatives to bring them Light.

So there will be times, in order to help others, that we will need to endure things that are not pleasant for us.

God promises us ultimate victory (and even rewards for our service for Him), so we need to always remain steadfast in our faith, never wavering in our conviction that God is good and He is working on our behalf -- no matter what we may be facing in life.

God loves all people, even those who are causing us distress. Yet most of those people have been blinded to the reality of God's love for them.

God is not happy about you suffering, any more than He was happy for His Son Jesus Christ to suffer on the cross.

But God is pleased when we, just like Jesus, willingly "endure" without striking back when people do us wrong. Why? Because it may be the only way for these people to see there is a reality to God's love -- when they see it in you.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:3 NLT 3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This "letter" is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.

The Greater One Is In You

1 JOHN 4:4 ICB 4 My dear children, you belong to God. So you have defeated them because God's Spirit, who is in you, is greater than the devil, who is in the world.

This message is simple and has two parts: God is greater than anything, and because you're a believer in Jesus Christ, He lives in you.

How can anyone argue with the fact that God is greater than any problem? God, the Creator, is above ALL. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Most people believe this.

The second part is more difficult to believe: God is in you. Yet, that is the message of the Bible to believers.

JOHN 14:16-17 NKJ 16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 NKJ 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

2 CORINTHIANS 6:16 NKJ 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."

Believe the Bible. The Greater One is in you. He is greater than any problem. He is greater than any situation, any difficulty, any obstacle, any enemy, any thing.

The Greater One is in me. He is greater than anything I now face or ever will face.

Lack Of Knowledge
HOSEA 4:6a NKJ 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

People wonder why many Christians experience so much trouble in life, instead of victory. The reason, according to the Bible, is a lack of knowledge.

The Bible tells us the devil is out to destroy us, but it also makes clear that we can overcome his attacks. The real problem lies with our ignorance of God's Word.

Real knowledge produces faith. When we really know something, we have faith in it. Then we will act on that knowledge.

The reason God's people are destroyed by calamity is not because God doesn't love us, or because God is not able to help us. It is simply that we don't know the truth. If we really knew the truth, we would act on that knowledge. Acting on true knowledge makes you free -- it does not destroy you or put you into bo***ge.

JOHN 8:31-32 NKJ 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

God's Word is our instruction book. When we act on it, things will work for us. God allows us to make choices. When we make the right choices, we will be blessed.

Don't let the devil condemn you with this message. Instead, let it give you hope. You can learn God's Word and act on it more accurately in the future -- and be blessed!

Saved By Grace
EPHESIANS 2:8-9 NLT 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Being saved, and in right standing with God, is a gift! It is something we don't deserve, but is freely given to us anyway.

We cannot earn it no matter what we do. Deliverance from the curse, and right standing with God, is available only as a free gift.

ROMANS 11:6 NRSV 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

It is not what we have done that matters, but what Jesus did for us. He was our Substitute, suffering what we deserved, so we could receive what He deserved as a gift.

God Himself has done what is necessary for us to be saved and be in right standing with Him. Now we must believe in what God has done, and thank Him for it.

ROMANS 4:5 NLT 5 But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.

People all over the world try to be right with God by what they do: rituals, sacrifices, and devotion. But the Bible reveals we cannot be right with God by our own actions -- it is a gift we must receive.

ROMANS 3:20 NLT 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

By keeping the law it is impossible to be right with God, because no human being can keep it by their own effort. We have all sinned, according to the Bible.

ROMANS 3:23 NLT 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

God does not grade on a curve. All have sinned and come short. So we all need a Savior.

ROMANS 10:9-10 NLT 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that yo

God Is Not Poor
PSALM 50:12 NASB 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is Mine, and all it contains.

HAGGAI 2:8 NASB 8 `The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' declares the LORD of hosts.

You probably knew that God is rich. But have you thought about what that means?

Since God is not poor, surely He would not desire His children to suffer poverty.

Misunderstanding has developed because most Christians think Jesus was poor and that His followers should also be poor. Not necessarily true, but a strong tradition.

Why did God create all the wealth of this world? Surely not for the devil and his crowd.

God does not withhold good from us but desires blessing for all His children. If it were otherwise, God would not even be as good as earthly parents.

Any court would condemn an earthly father, who, although rich, withheld support from his children. Should we think our Father God is any less loving and caring and giving than an earthly father? NO! Jesus taught that our Heavenly Father is much more gracious and generous than any earthly father.

MATTHEW 7:11 NASB 11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Just because you have not yet received the fullness of God's blessing does not mean God does not desire that you have it. We must grow up and quit blaming God. Instead, we should seek Him for understanding and help so that we may receive all God has for us.

Yes, God warns against trusting in riches or being deceived by them. Anything can be dangerous if not used properly. Fire can maim and kill, yet properly controlled it is a great blessing. So it is with money.

God is not against His children having wealth. He just does not want us to trust in it and worship it.

PSALM 35:27 NASB 27 . . ."The LORD be magnified, who delights in the prosperity of His servant."

Faith And Patience
HEBREWS 6:12 NKJ 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Patience is not just putting up with things.

Patience means to continue, to persevere, to stay steady, to maintain your course, to not grow weary in doing good and quit.

Patience is a fruit of the spirit, so to walk in Bible patience you must keep your spiritual life strong, by feeding on the Word and fellowshiping with God.

We receive from God by faith, but our faith has to be undergirded by patience to possess and enjoy His promises.

It's normal for there to be a time of waiting and testing when we believe the promises of God. But hang on to your faith and it will see you through.

JAMES 5:10-11 NIV 10 Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

God's Word will come to pass in your life. Don't quit believing.

Hang in there!

Giving Is Not The Main Ingredient In Prosperity
JOSHUA 1:8 NLT 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

There are Bible passages (such as 2 Corinthians 9) that connect generous giving with reaping a generous financial harvest.

But prosperity requires more than giving!

Someone may say that "buttermilk makes good pancakes" but we understand there are other ingredients that must also be used to make pancakes. "Buttermilk makes good pancakes" may be a true statement, but it's not the whole truth.

Being a generous giver, (as opposed to being a selfish, self- centered person) is part of prosperity in God's kingdom, but it is not the complete picture.

God is a giver, and as His children we should be like Him. Giving is something Christians will do naturally when we are not bound by fear and doubt, for it expresses our true nature.

So I am not against giving. The Bible does teach that our generosity affects our prosperity. But it is not the only ingredient -- not even the most important one.

The primary ingredient in prosperity is faith (Romans 4:16, 5:2). Faith is what you believe, and therefore directs how you speak and act.

The second main ingredient in prosperity, and just as important, is obedience to God (Hebrews 5:9). We must follow God's instructions.

Giving cannot cancel out or make up for disobedience. If God has made it clear to you that you are supposed to do something, yet you refuse to do it, and think that you can just give an offering, and everything will work out great in your life, you are mistaken.

Your mother may love you very much and give you her favorite recipe for some food, along with all the ingredients and utensils needed to make it. But if you refuse to follow her recipe instructions you cannot expect it to turn out well, no matter how much your mother loves you or how much it cost her to provide you with everything you needed to make it.

You can give until you have nothing left to give, but unless you walk in faith and obey what you know God has told you to do -- you will not live in the measure of prosperity God intended for you to enjoy.

I am not saying you have to be mature and perfect in all you do in order to prosper. We do not have to earn God's blessing by our performance under the New Covenant. Instead we receive it as a gift based on what Jesus did for us. But if we refuse to follow God's instructions we still cannot expect things to turn out good in our life.

We also need to understand that there are different levels of faith we can operate in. As a child of God it is possible for you to walk in faith and receive financial provision without you having to give something in order to receive.

Someone might object and say that nothing happens on earth without a seed being sown. While that may be true, Jesus our Head and joint-heir has already sown His all and we are partakers of His grace. We got credit for what Jesus did!

However, we still can choose to release our faith by an act of giving in order to receive a harvest of provision. But when we do that we still need to speak words of faith over our gift. When you give you must also mix faith with your giving for it to work as it should.

We all desire to be blessed and prosperous. The Good News includes the fact that our great and generous Father God has already blessed us in Christ Jesus.

As joint-heirs with Jesus, we already have been given everything by God (Romans 8:17, Romans 8:32, Galatians 4:7, Ephesians 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3, 1 Corinthians 3:22).

So our giving should really be a response to God's love -- not something we must do in order to get God to bless us.

Many people do need to be instructed and encouraged to give because they are bound by selfishness. Fear has trapped them and prevents them from expressing the love of God in their hearts by generous giving. So the Lord has directed many preachers to talk about giving, because it has been necessary.

But we don't have to give in order to earn God's blessing, for we are already blessed in Christ. So we can freely and cheerfully give because we know our Father God is our never- ending source of supply. We can support every good work, as the Lord leads us. (2 Corinthians 9:8, Colossians 1:10).

JOHN 2:5 NKJ 5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."

John 2:5 actually gives all the instruction you need to prosper (not only in this life, but throughout eternity). Whatever Jesus tells you to do -- do it!

God Can Be Trusted
HEBREWS 10:23 NKJ 23 . . . He who promised is faithful.

The devil is trying to get you to doubt God and His Word. The devil wants you to give up on God, to not trust Him, to not expect Him to do what He said in His Word.

Do not give up! God can be trusted.

Someone who loves you enough to die in your place can be trusted. Someone who created all that you see, and all that you don't see, can be trusted to handle whatever you face.

TITUS 1:2 NASB 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

God is not a liar. Whatever He says comes to pass!

1 THESSALONIANS 5:24 NIV 24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.

God is trustworthy. Don't be moved by the circumstances. God will not fail you.

Fellowship With God
1 CORINTHIANS 1:9 NIV 9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

You need to stop and think about this. God wants to have fellowship with you.

We are not talking about some lower level person. Not just a leader of a country. Not just a billionaire.

God!

Stop and think about God, all His knowledge, all His wealth, all His power -- the ruler of the Universe, and all that He could choose to do.

Why would God desire your company?

Honestly, I don't know. All I can say is that He does, according to the Bible.

But what an opportunity! What a privilege! To fellowship with GOD!

What does fellowship mean? Some meanings of fellowship are: association, communion, participation, intimacy, partnership, and a having in common.

That is what God wants with you.

2 CORINTHIANS 13:14 LB 14 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. May God's love and the Holy Spirit's friendship be yours. Paul
