Get your pen and paper ready, open your mind, and let's solve those questions together!”

Questions/prompts for the teachers:

🎭 Title: “Dangerous Woman Behind the Humble Man”

Introduction:

> “Keembe FM listeners, the lights may be going down outside, but the story is just beginning.

Welcome to Storytelling—Kaano, right here on Keembe FM 103.5.

Tonight's story is called ‘Dangerous Woman Behind the Humble Man.’

Sometimes the person standing quietly beside you may be carrying a secret you know nothing about.

Sometimes a humble man is judged by the actions of the person behind him.

And sometimes, the greatest danger doesn't come from an enemy—it comes from someone you trusted.

Tonight, prepare your heart. Prepare your mind. Listen carefully, because every chapter has a lesson.

This is Kaano with Hakalembe Ronald. Let's enter the story...”

Before the climax:

> “Listeners, don't go anywhere. The truth is about to come out—and when it does, someone's life will never be the same again.”

After the story:

> “That was our Kaano for tonight. A story may end, but its lesson can remain with us for a lifetime.

Sometimes we should not judge a person by what we see on the outside. And sometimes, we need wisdom before giving our trust completely.”

Title: “The Dangerous Woman Behind the Humble Man”

By Hakalembe Ronald

There was once a humble young man named Mwamba.

Mwamba came from a poor family. He had no car, no big house and no wealthy relatives to support him. Every morning, he woke up before sunrise and went looking for piecework just to put food on the table.

But despite his poverty, Mwamba had something many rich people didn't have—a good heart.

He respected everyone.

He greeted the elderly, helped his neighbours and never looked down on people who were poorer than him.

But behind this humble man was a woman who saw something in him that nobody else could see.

Her name was Naledi.

Naledi was not rich either. She was a hardworking woman who sold vegetables at the market.

When Mwamba had nothing, Naledi did not run away.

When he was discouraged, she encouraged him.

When he failed, she told him to try again.

One evening, Mwamba returned home with tears in his eyes.

Naledi immediately knew something was wrong.

“My husband, what has happened?” she asked.

Mwamba sat down and said:

«“I have tried everything, but nothing is working. Maybe I was born to suffer.”»

Naledi sat beside him and held his hand.

She said:

«“Don't call yourself a failure because life is difficult today. Your situation is temporary. Keep working. One day, people will tell the story of how you started with nothing.”»

Those words stayed in Mwamba's heart.

A few weeks later, he decided to start a small business.

They had very little money.

Naledi sold some of her clothes and used the money to help him buy his first stock.

Mwamba was shocked.

“You sold your clothes for my business?”

Naledi smiled.

«“I can buy clothes again. But I don't want to watch the man I love give up on his dream.”»

Mwamba promised her that he would never forget her sacrifice.

But success did not come immediately.

The first business failed.

Mwamba lost almost everything.

People laughed at him.

Some even told Naledi:

“Why are you wasting your time with that man? Leave him and find someone who can give you a better life.”

Naledi refused.

She told them:

«“I didn't marry his money. I married his heart.”»

Mwamba heard those words.

They gave him the strength to start again.

This time, his business slowly began to grow.

One customer became five.

Five became twenty.

Eventually, Mwamba opened a shop.

Years passed.

The poor young man who used to walk everywhere could now afford a car.

The small shop became a big business.

Mwamba became wealthy.

People who once ignored him suddenly wanted to be his friends.

Those who once laughed at him began calling him “Boss.”

But there was one problem.

Success started changing Mwamba.

He became proud.

He stopped listening to Naledi.

He began spending more time with wealthy friends.

One evening, Naledi reminded him:

“My husband, don't forget where we started.”

Mwamba became angry.

He replied:

«“Must you always remind me of the past? I am no longer that poor man.”»

Naledi looked at him in silence.

She could not believe what she had heard.

The same man she had encouraged when he had nothing was now ashamed of his past.

Then one day, Mwamba was invited to a very important business dinner.

Naledi prepared his clothes.

Before he left, she asked:

“Can I come with you?”

Mwamba looked at her simple dress.

Then he said something that broke her heart.

«“No. These are successful people. You may embarrass me.”»

Naledi stood completely still.

She remembered everything.

She remembered selling her clothes.

She remembered sharing one plate of food with him.

She remembered comforting him when he cried.

She remembered believing in him when the whole village had given up on him.

And now he was ashamed of her.

She did not argue.

She simply said:

“Go.”

That night, after Mwamba left, Naledi packed her belongings.

She left the house with tears running down her cheeks.

Before she walked away, she looked at the beautiful house they had built together and whispered:

«“I was there when this house was only a dream.”»

Meanwhile, at the dinner, Mwamba was enjoying himself.

His friends praised him.

“Look at you, Mwamba! You have made it!”

Someone asked him:

“Who helped you when you were starting?”

Mwamba paused.

For the first time, he remembered Naledi.

He remembered her selling her clothes.

He remembered her encouraging him.

He remembered the nights they went to bed hungry.

Suddenly, the laughter around him disappeared.

His heart became heavy.

He excused himself and rushed home.

“Naledi!”

There was no answer.

He entered the bedroom.

Her clothes were gone.

On the table was a small note.

It read:

«“I loved you when you had nothing. I stood beside you when everyone laughed at you. I sacrificed for your dream. I never asked for your money. I only wanted you to remember me when you finally succeeded. But somewhere along the way, you became ashamed of the woman who believed in you.”»

Mwamba collapsed onto the floor.

He cried like a child.

For the first time, he understood the true meaning of poverty.

A person can have millions in the bank and still be poor in the heart.

He searched everywhere for Naledi.

Days became weeks.

Eventually, he found her living with her mother in another village.

Mwamba went there.

When Naledi saw him, she tried to walk away.

Mwamba knelt down.

“Please, forgive me.”

Naledi looked at him.

“You didn't hurt me because you became successful,” she said.

“You hurt me because you forgot me.”

Mwamba cried.

“I was foolish. I thought my money made me important. But now I understand that before the world called me successful, you called me capable.”

Naledi remained silent.

Mwamba continued:

«“If I lose everything tomorrow, I would rather have you beside me than have all the money in the world without you.”»

Naledi's eyes filled with tears.

She finally forgave him.

They returned home together.

But Mwamba was never the same again.

He started treating people with respect.

He never forgot his humble beginnings.

And whenever people praised his success, he always said:

«“Don't praise me alone. There is a woman behind my success who believed in me when I was nobody.”»

That woman was Naledi.

And that is why people called her the dangerous woman behind the humble man.

Not because she was dangerous with weapons.

Not because she was dangerous because of money.

She was dangerous because her love, sacrifice, wisdom and belief were powerful enough to turn a struggling man into a successful one.

THE LESSON

Never become so successful that you forget the people who stood beside you when you had nothing.

Never be ashamed of the person who helped you build your dream.

Because sometimes, the person standing quietly behind you is the reason you are standing today.

And remember:

A humble man is not made strong by money alone. Sometimes, there is a strong woman behind him, silently pushing him forward.

QUESTIONS FOR THE LISTENERS

1. If you were Mwamba, would you have realised the value of Naledi before it was too late?

2. Should a person ever be ashamed of the partner who supported them during their difficult days?

3. If you were Naledi, would you forgive Mwamba after he rejected you because of his success?

4. Can money change a person's character, or does success simply reveal who they truly are?

5. Who stood beside you when you had nothing—and have you remembered them now that your situation has changed?

6. Would you rather have wealth without love, or a humble life with someone who truly believes in you?
